Hey!

Supreme users can already delete there thread so why can't we also lock/unlock our thread? I think this would be a great addition :)

Thank you!

So give me some example uses?
Can't you think of that youself -.- oh well let me think for you then

- Whenever there is no more point of my thread (I have sold something etc) I will close it. This also helps necro posting.
- If i for some reason need to close my shop for a bit (Vacation, sick etc) I will close it then unlock it when i'm back.
- If there is a huge useless argument going on then i will close it.
- If i don't want people to comment on the thread for some reason then i will lock it.

This is just a few things you can use it for that i thought of right now.

Just use the report tool and say "please close my thread because [...]".

From when you report something until it gets done in my caces is from 10-24 hours.
And that is to long to wait for most of us in some cases.

This is the only issue I currently see.
Moderator-locked threads should just remain in the Archives. If it needed moderator attention, it can be moved.

Otherwise you need a permission for users not to be able to open their thread again if it's moderator closed.
If you ever need to unlock and thread which wont be many times then the solution might be that you need to pm a moderator or something, if not the staff can find a solution to make a moderator-lock(Which users cant open) and a user-lock(that we can open).

ANY MYBB FORUM HAS THIS FEATURE.

Why default it to HF?
Jus' sayin.
Well, closing threads is a feature in all forum software.

Allowing users to have a "close thread" button that closes the thread permanently and irreversibly is custom, and specific to hack forums and the forums that try to rip it off.[DOUBLEPOST=1452878200,1452877998][/DOUBLEPOST]

Actually, I disagree with the idea, so I'm asking you to give me justification for it.

- Whenever there is no more point of my thread (I have sold something etc) I will close it. This also helps necro posting.
Yeah, sure. If you wish to close after selling something, I guess it could work. It's what I said in my initial post, actually. It's the only reason I could think of that was reasonable. I'd prefer a "Mark as Sold" text hyperlink button, that also sets a "Sold" prefix.

- If i for some reason need to close my shop for a bit (Vacation, sick etc) I will close it then unlock it when i'm back.
Leave it open - people can discuss or whatever, but I guess they won't. It's still a thread.

- If there is a huge useless argument going on then i will close it.
You do not own a discussion. That's called a discussion. You simply start the topic, and then people decide to discuss it. If there's a problem, talk to staff to deal with it. The thread starter has no right to stop a discussion just because "I started it" - that's 7 year old whining logic.

- If i don't want people to comment on the thread for some reason then i will lock it.
Yeah, now you're just going plain stupid.

So you have 1 valid justification for this, which is also the one I wrote, and a "Close" button isn't appropriate. You'd be looking for a "Mark as Sold".[DOUBLEPOST=1452878576][/DOUBLEPOST]
I mean look at HF.
Now look at LF.

LF is big, and they took after SEVERAL ideas that HF did.
As is ForumKorner. I have to give kudos to hack forums, Omniscient realised his community was turning worse and saw ways to make that into profit. The site is pretty awful, however, he makes money for the most stupid of things. LF is even more of a mess, but it makes money from the most stupid of things. ForumKorner is pretty stupid in some parts, but it makes money through the copied ideas.

What they all are, however, they're all general discussion forums.

MC-Market should not aim to become what they are. They're horrible forums, yes they make money, but they're horrible. Much more money is to be made if you do it right. It's just easier to do it the messed up way.

"copying" vs. using a general idea among a different forum board is different.
let's not resort to calling everything a copy of another site.
You are right - you are totally right. Some forums do amazing things and people endeavour to copy. That's just how we improve. If we didn't use ideas from each other and develop them, we'd be living in a completely different world! That does, however, mean copying good ideas, not bad ones.

(note: we refers to the general human population and the history of it)

We (a general human population) obviously need to copy some things. I mean, we'd still be thinking God made all organisms and evolution doesn't exist if we didn't learn to adapt and learn (sounds cheesy).

That means copy the good marketplaces, not the messed up general discussion forums that make quick money.

Hell, I bet people here want their own groups system too. One group called "The Minecrafteers!" with a userbar and its own awards for all members.
