I would like to hear back from the community of what they would like to see on a web-host, for web-hosting "companies" to have some feedback on.

Not everyone resells from OVH, only the people that don't have that much of a clue of what they are doing. For Minecraft it's okay to rent from them because they do have pretty good server when it comes from that. One that's only service isn't reselling OVH.

eh. No offense to you, but most, and I mean the vast majority, of hosts on mcm resell OVH or another similar company and don't offer anything different. Literally the only difference between most hosts here is their website, all the exact same features. Not everyone resells from OVH, only the people that don't have that much of a clue of what they are doing. I didn't say you did, but most hosts do. And your host/co-host did/does resell OVH  my point is every host does the same thing and nothing different, and I can't really see why anyone would have a reason to choose your host over some more well-established hosts besides "he's knew, I'll *try* it"I don't resell from OVH, but I want to be as unique as possible.
I'm still with Knabix. I can tell you that we do have Minecraft servers w/ OVH, but not for long, we have a dedicated server but don't want to pay for it just yet.I didn't say you did, but most hosts do. What about the second part? Why would anyone have a reason to choose your host over other hosts?I'm still with Knabix. I can tell you that we do have Minecraft servers w/ OVH, but not for long, we have a dedicated server but don't want to pay for it just yet.
That's why I started this thread. We need more unique-ness.What about the second part? Why would anyone have a reason to choose your host over other hosts?
If I had a unique idea why would I give it away for free to you? That's why I started this thread. We need more unique-ness.
It doesn't have to be so unique that only one company has it. Just to take it to the next level. If I had a unique idea why would I give it away for free to you?
You're not really thinking this through..
Why? There's nothing wrong with OVH. They have a extremely solid VAC system and a very good anycast network. The only thing I can think of is the average support and the rare network downtime in the past. If you look at their VAC system, network and pricing. Those 2 cons are fairly non-existent.One that's only service isn't reselling OVH.
The webhosting industry exists for almost 2 decades. If you think members on this forum will suggest you something that has barely been done or something that's unique, you're wrong. Most companies that come up with unique things have a whole marketing team brainstorming for weeks.I don't resell from OVH, but I want to be as unique as possible.
There's not much uniqueness you can have with webhosting. You're most likely running cPanel and don't have a full team of developers. So even if you had something unique in mind, getting it developed would be fairly unrealistic unless you have a crazy budget. That's why I started this thread. We need more unique-ness.
I'll look into getting a bigger budget for a custom control panel, it's going to be expensive though. :rofl:I have a pretty solid background in technical aspects of running large websites so I'll give some input.

The hosting industry (especially webhosting) is extremely oversaturated and I doubt it's doable to come up with something innovative.
I also don't think it's worth the time. You have to offer extremely low prices to be able to even compete. Low prices with little customers give little revenue.
Another problem is that the market is extremely easy to get into. It doesn't take much effort to buy a reseller package from a hosting company, install whmcs(sometimes even included in the reseller package) and setup some packages. And tada, you can sell webhosting.
Want something unique for webhosting? Get a commercial control panel made that use nginx and mariadb instead of slow and outdated apache.
There's one thing I really want to see pop up in the Minecraft hosting industry. That's custom control panels from hosting companies. Multicraft lacks features and is pretty basic as it hasn't changed for years. I can't think of many that do this, ServerMiner is one of them and I loved their panel when I used it.
As toxic as you? Jk,Mango don't do this. You'd get yourself in a toxic market, lol.
you.
