Friends get banned left and right these days. I'd like to know what they got banned for and how long they'll be gone.

They got suspended for excessive warning points. This is multiple warnings. We won't just go listing every single warning.

Suspensions don't take long. They are usually 3 or 7 days. Anything higher is a tempban.

a) There's no reason any user would need this information.

b) Reasons for disciplinary actions taken are between the user and the staff team, in my opinion. It's nobody else's business, really. I would argue this for a banned member list as well, but that's a different argument for another day.

I look at it from a standpoint that at least in the US citizens have the right to know who the police have in custody, jail, holding cells, etc. We should know who is being kicked off these forums for a time period.
You can't compare a forums to government.

What if the said user wishes to make the information public? We already show tempbanned/banned users with their reasons. What's to hide?

While this would be really nice. I have to agree with staff on it.

Its not need to know information. If your friends want to share the info with you ask them on skype or something. Its private information that can be viewed negatively.

If said user wants to share, that's their business. But it's not our place to share for them.

I believe we should know about what happened for temp bans and suspensions. For perminate bans the person should be asked if they want it to be added to list. If they say no it's a general topic like hacking or scamming not in depth.

It is just a list of temporary names from suspension with time range of the suspension. I don't that there is anything to hide.
We aren't hiding anything. It's just not our place to share with the world why a guy is suspended. Actually, wait, here you go.

Suspended user? Okay, here's why they are suspended. They've violated the rules excessively, which resulted in them reaching the threshold of warning points for a suspension. There's your reason.

As for a list, there's no reason you or anyone else needs a list. There's a lot of other things to worry about. Nobody should have to care about who's suspended.

How this forum works is that once a member is warned for doing things so many times, he gets to a number of warning points which tells the forum to automatically make this person suspended (a rank on forums I suppose). Then, when this user is unsuspended, he keeps these warning points, and they grow to a temporary ban if he continues being the way he is. This continues for longer and longer temporary bans, and I suppose a permanent ban is to occurs after that.

A lot of forums work this way as it keeps the forums clean of cancerous people. I think it is very useless for people's suspension times to be shown as they are all for the same reason, and they will be unsuspended, who cares when.
