Looking for developers to finish up a commissioned project (potentially more work):

Requirements:
- 1+ year Java
- Experience with Redis
- 1+ year SQL
- Experience with Ubuntu
- Basic application security knowledge

Optional:

- Experience playing Pokemon

We're creating Pokemon in Spigot 1.8 - 1.16. Here's a demo I coded up (will need to be recoded, but I'll most likely be doing that part):

We're specifically looking for someone to work on the database side of the program. There's already a lot of work done, but we'll be looking for you to:

- Fix bugs that currently exist
- Create in game features (mounts, pokemon healers, etc)
- Expand the API

If you match these requirements, we can further discuss the project & price on Discord: hayden#6907

and... what do you exactly mean by that? .-.
Hmm? Oh I didn't apply, but I had my very friend (who exceeds the requirements, and in my opinion writes very, very excellent code) apply to do it since he was bored, to not get any response back. I'm taking the assumption that anyone else that had offered to do this job, figured / probably DID meet the requirements, including yourself, of course. That means he has at least 3 responses, and maybe more who do not respond on mc-market threads as well, who were probably qualified to do this job, and he's just decided to ignore them, and to keep looking. On mc-market, you're going to get what you're paying for, and you can't assume that you're going to get someone that's going to write you perfect code. Frankly, if someone is qualified, and WILLING to go into this project knowing nothing about it (especially not a price range!) except the requirements, you'd probably want to take a chance on them.[DOUBLEPOST=1612117288][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't seem to be able to edit this, but what I mean is that they are choosing to ignore developers that could probably do what he is asking for. The over qualification part is my really just conclusion that anyone with this "required knowledge" definitely not only has more than the requirements, but is probably qualified to work on other things that aren't just spigot

Who was your friend? I've replied to everyone so far, and I'm still looking!

I've actually only had 2 devs reply to my PM's (after I replied to their initial PM) + a dev team. One dev was definitely qualified but unfortunately turned it down, and I just had some pretty major issues with code I saw on rod's Github.

Specifically, in his practice plugin he made arenas like this: https://gyazo.com/cba456c7bb8fd45bd39b1831124dfd80.

There's a few big issues there. First off, there's numbers in his variable names. Second off, the way it's done here is pretty limiting. Instead, he should probably make a list of Arena locations in his config.yml, and then load them into a list.

Not trying to trash rod at all, just looking for someone with lots of experience in Java!

Still looking!

well you didn't to me?, besides... you could've atleast let me notice, i mean after all i said that it's in an ALPHA stage...

Hey, don’t take this as slanderous because we all have to start somewhere, but I would recommend improving your GitHub and showcasing your professional work, not work that suggests laziness and unprofessional use.

Just another tip, don’t store Player objects in a list, use UUIDs and lastly, even in alpha don’t create variables for arenas. Always strive to make a dynamic framework, leads to future expansion and saves money and time. I have an entire configuration system that relies on classes, works very well, maybe make something similar?

If you want any advice, or to discuss the above, feel free to add me on Discord! ThatAbstractWolf#0001

Let me know if you're still looking for someone. I'd be rather slow as I'm pretty busy, but I could try to do something on this.

Irrelevent:

I used to work for a server called Pixelverse which did this basically, it was an MMORPG style Pokemon server without any mods. I left the team before it opened but was around for the release and shortly after it flopped. So gl with this one will be interesting to see how it plays out :D
