So basically MrBeast and Mark Rober want to plant 20 million trees, and they need help. So they partnered up with Arbor Day Foundation to make https://teamtrees.org/

For every dollar donated to Team Trees a tree will be planted. So what I'm asking is for Mick/MC-M staff team to make one of those events where people buy a Name Colour here and all the money raised goes to the charity/organization that has been chosen.

I think this is a great opportunity as I'm pretty sure a lot of people would like to donate to Team Trees and the name colour/reward for doing this would encourage a lot of people to donate.

I left my opinion on this suggestion on this thread https://www.mc-market.org/threads/533372/
So I think I should leave the same opinion here

The whole point of a charity movement like this is for people to get involved BECAUSE of its temporal relevance. Smaller impacts over a longer period of time don't cut it when this is a movement trying to get recognized by the likes of world leaders some of which don't believe that climate change exists.

While I can understand that charity events shouldn't be on all the time because it takes away from the meaning of doing one in the first place, we will not get many opportunities like this one and there couldn't really be a better cause right now.

Don't get me wrong, charities like able gamers and others done in the past are also good causes and deserve to be recognized but this is a global push and every little bit counts. This is not a typical charity where it would be nice if they could get some money to improve the quality of life for a certain group of people.

There isn't currently a better cause to give money to
The community seems well up for giving money to something like this given a little push
It would make a real difference

Your response makes it seem like you just don't care for the relevance of this push and worry more about the possibility that MCM's users will somehow get bored of charity events. That notion is pretty stupid in my eyes and MCM should definitely do whatever is possible to raise as much money for this movement.

I want to agree with Kram as events should be more spaced out to actually raise good amounts of money. I also can give you some articles on people who support climate change putting out thousands of pounds of CO2 out in the environment.

We can all give examples of these people but neither you nor I am any different with that. Just because people can be hypocrites, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

I agree with that. But I think it’s unfair that we are supposed to raise money and change our minds when the people supporting it aren’t. Also what is the raised money going to?

Humans being hypocrites will never change, that’s a fact. If we’re going to pollute, we might as well equal it out by planting trees with a fundraiser like this. I don’t see why you’re so against planting trees...

I’m alright with planting trees never said I wasn’t. I’m against the hypocrisy in climate change. Also stated in my first statement too many fun raiser events will lead to less money in each.

Dozens of people are hypocrites, but if we give up because of that, no one would ever make a change. It’s the small things, like this event, that can make a huge difference in the world. This event was a collaboration between YouTubers, who all performed a tiny deed. This obviously lead to a trend with a mass amount of people donating to one single cause, proving that people can do huge things from a small and almost effortless act. I personally don’t want to destroy this planet, or even not eat cheese while I’m on it, but there’s a few minuscule acts of kindness to the planet that can help everyone change in the right direction.

What's really the point of having a extra step in the donation? Extra fees for processing just to get a green name?

You bring up some valid points and I thank you for helping me expand my thinking. But I think raising 20 million is not a small thing. I small thing would be using less paper or something similar. I also think that if we want to fight climate change it shouldn’t just be us fighting it. Why do normal people have to change their lives if the major supporters won’t.

Because you can control what you do, not others. Better one than none.

I agree with this. We don't do charity fundraisers based on whatever the hot new trend is. Team Trees is a charity which received tonnes of support which is of course really great, but not the sort of fundraiser I like holding for MC-Market.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
