Temporarily disable/hide Minecraft Accounts sections IMMEDIATELY for all users

Counters like asterisks will NOT work. Mojang is going through locking accounts based on whether or not they were listed.
Even accounts that’ve been GC transfered and never sold are being locked just cause the name was listed on McM at one point.

The debates are going on about whether we should sell still, but it DOESN’T MATTER. Over the last 4 days, 35+ accounts have been locked. To protect the security of all users, we should temporarily HIDE all Minecraft account sections until this blows over. No one is selling accounts on these sections anyway, we all know the current risk.

Do this now before it’s too late. This has been the 5th wave in a row. Doesn’t look like they’re going to stop anytime soon.

I’d rather the sections be up too but trust me, it’s TOO BIG a risk. Not everything is published on site. There have been sooo many accounts with no reason to be locked gone in an instant.

They’re doing things they haven’t before. Mass locking semis, cape accounts, LEGIT accounts that’ve never been sold. All bc they just look up the name on this and similar websites.

Asterisks won’t work bc some starred out names on another site were still locked :/ all it takes is a click to figure it out.

YEP. MCM has a RESPONSIBILITY to provide a safe trading environment. Some of the helpful mods said it would be a disservice to turn their back on their community.

I think their issue is that they don't want to be perceived by Mojang as helping us continue the ToS violating sales of MC accounts. However, I think if you disable the account selling capabilities on the site, Mojang couldn't fault us as it'd still be us removing the capability to publicly sell MC accs and violate their terms. At the same time, you'd protect users.

When MC-Market announced its new policies on leak sites, I emailed md_5 requesting SpigotMC’s cooperation in adopting similar enforcement. Given how much income leak sites make off of blackmailing SpigotMC creators and SpigotMC creators with ranked accounts, I believed that if both platforms chose to combat the revenue sources of these leak sites, we could make a real stand against them and the income they stand upon.

Unfortunately, while md_5 did say he’d be watching our community’s response to the new policies with interest, most of the reply I received was unfavorable. Here’s an excerpt that I would like to share with you:

I have long been tired of administrating a community governed by policies that are both contradictory to themselves and ethically inconsistent. It is the one thing that embarrasses me about my position. I am ashamed that despite my influence, and my unchanging stance against accounts, in all these years, I’ve been unable to steer us out of the black-hat market that we’ve had one foot firmly planted in.

We should not be encouraging the transaction of accounts. Not because Mojang can lock them if they find out. Not because of the high scam rates associated with accounts. Not because it requires so much development, and staff moderation to try and keep up with. We should not be encouraging the transaction of accounts, because we’re not fucking hypocrites, and we supposedly stand for the protection of, and enforcement of the rights of content creators and content owners.

That's from the beginning of the suggestion. He didn't definitively say he was removing the account section, and I'm pretty sure Mick wouldn't let him do that anyway, because he knows that his website will most likely fail if he does.

Not sure on the exact situation here but it seems like a major problem which should be looked be looked into.
Maybe they could make the linked accs have asterisks and if somebody dms you requesting to see the full IGN you can press a button to reveal it.
