Hi everyone!

I haven't posted in a long while and I come here with a question for the infamous MCM community knowing that you guys will give me the hard and unbearable truth.....haha.

For around six years now, I have been trying to open a successful server not for the money, but for the fun and comfort of having an amazing and friendly community to manage. I have set-up, managed, ran and released over nine different servers/networks -- some fruitful, some fruitless -- and now want to do so again but I am struggling to figure out what to open...but "that was then, this is now."

My favorite Minecraft game mode is Towny, hands-down. I also enjoy creating my own game modes not by custom coding them, but combining plugins to create a different gameplay style. Throughout my experience, I have learned a lot of business management qualities, as well as skills such as website design and development along with graphical design. With my experience, I also know a key to success in the Minecraft server business is to START SMALL. That is a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR key to success. You cannot open a huge network expecting people to play Skyblock or Skywars or Creative etc. while there are many other networks out there offering the same gameplay benefits. Also if you don't spend money on advertising, you're pretty much already stumped.

Anyway, I am finally giving in (not giving UP) to the community and asking what YOU guys want to see/experience/play! My favorite game mode is Towny, but I am afraid that has lost its popularity. Factions is getting a little bit old as I have been on Minecraft for a while and everything nowadays is Factions..please-give me a break.

With that said, please reply below with suggestions on what to make a server on! I really am not in this for the revenue but for the community. All I want is an active community to play a sever which I can manage and make updates for! It will give me something to do and experience for the real world of business, managing and updating the server for people to enjoy.

P.S. By the way, I am not looking for any hate comments saying that Minecraft is dead or saying that everyone's goal is to have a successful server.. I am just here for your suggestions .

Do you enjoy Skyblock? If so, I'd recommend Skyblock. It's a great way for players to indulge and dedicate their time, and play with their friends. They work together from scratch. One thing I do want to see is OG Skyblock. I miss the days without the major pay to win factor that ruins the game, and reduces the players.

A shameless self plug, but I do genuinely want to see what creative server owners can do with it after all the work that's gone into its creation, and the massive effects a change in economy will have on the various servers types running it.
Your interest in combining plugins to create our shared desire of a different gameplay style altogether is what motivated me to respond.

One thing I do want to see is OG Skyblock. I miss the days without the major pay to win factor that ruins the game, and reduces the players.

I actually do enjoy Skyblock and would love to incorporate the OG Skyblock without the pay-to-win factor because you're right-it does ruin the game... Thanks for the suggestion!

The two top game modes currently are skyblock and prison. These two game modes have ways for players to get hooked, and maintain a large playerbase. They also leave a lot of room for money to be made, by selling cosmetics, and updates to be made to entice players. The third and final option would be a custom Gamemode, as that is what makes a server unique, and that is what attracts players. Skyblock seems to be the wave nowadays, along with prison but minigames seem to be a timeless favorite, hence Hypixel's popularity and Mineplex's popularity in the past.
