The great dog scam

I used to just browse this forum, didnt use it until I made this account. I remember 1-3 years ago, can't remember that clearly, that a user lied about their dog being like clinically Ill, and they had super high rep, and tons of people ended up donating to their "sick dog" that in reality was fine. Does anybody else remember this? It was pretty big, I just dont know if I'm dreaming or if this actually happens. Just want to see if this actually occurred and if people know about it :?

LOL I remember something like this

I searched for "dog scam" and managed to find 2 posts of people referencing it, but they didn't have much info. Happend in like early 2017, very high rep user.
