I spent 16-18 hours editing this video. I really like this commentary-style of video. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan, and my distaste for The Rise of Skywalker is (sadly) a big part of that. I resent this film and everything it represents.

Take a look at my video, and let's have a discussion! Whether you agree, disagree, let me know your thoughts. Let's just talk some Star Wars, I can talk about literally anything from the franchise.

None of the Disney SW movies are actual Star Wars movies
I really enjoy Rogue One and Solo. Things disconnected from the Skywalker saga works well for me.[DOUBLEPOST=1587741905][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story puts the "war" in Star Wars, which is set right before the events of the original Star Wars film, A New Hope (1977). It's about how the Rebels steal the Death Star plans. People complain about lack of character depth, but honestly it's fine and there's a reason... you'll understand once you watch it.

Solo: A Star Wars Story was a financial flop for Disney/Lucasfilm, but it's still a good movie. It's a fun western-style Star Wars movie. People were burned out from The Last Jedi in December of 2017, and this came out in May of 2018. It was too soon and the marketing was terrible. People also weren't interested in a story about Han Solo. People already made up their minds that this movie would be terrible... but it wasn't. The main criticism was the actor of Han Solo, and people said he could never be Han Solo. But I saw a LOT of people praise his performance. He's not doing an impression, he just feels like Han Solo. So yeah, it performed poorly at the box office, but it was #1 for Blu-Ray sales that year. It's on Netflix (not Disney+ yet), it's good.

The Mandalorian is the show on Disney+, a live-action one. It's great, you've definitely heard stuff about it. It's just really good, that's all I will say.

The Clone Wars is the animated show made in 2008 before Disney bought Lucasfilm. It was cancelled, but got picked up again to finish it off. Season 7 is still ongoing, and we just got a new episode today. Now there are only 2 episodes left. The first half was a little slow, but still nice to see. Now it's shifting to the Siege of Mandalore, and this show is SO GOOD. Seeing Maul, Ahsoka, and the Siege of Mandalore is incredible. This part is taking place during the events of the movie Revenge of the Sith. It all ties in together. Clone Wars is a great show.

Admittedly I totally forgot RO and SOLO completely. I totally agree with you tho. Everything after ROTJ as the story was totally terrible. I absolutely hated it ngl... Yet I kept watching the new ones.

I consume everything Star Wars, but I'll definitely criticize it if it's not good.

I greatly appreciate the feedback. The script is done, so now I'm editing and processing my next video on what to anticipate and expect in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story puts the "war" in Star Wars
I'm very happy to see a hardcore fan (which I don't think I am) see why Rogue One fits so well in the narrative and manages to do something few (no?) other SW media has been able to do: it focuses on normal people. There is no single hero with the blood of space Jesus coursing through his veins, there are no super powers for characters to manipulate at will, and there is no establishment dedicated to protecting said heroes. They're just normal folks who've been hurt by the war who want to help end it. It felt much more genuine to me than the "Galaxy vs Sith" scene from The Rise of Skywalker.
Solo: A Star Wars Story was a financial flop for Disney/Lucasfilm, but it's still a good movie.
I haven't seen it yet, and I have no doubt it'll be good. I just wanted to point out that I never could understand why Disney tried to stray from its brilliant December release schedule. It was a terrible, terrible idea to release a film that people expected for December in May. What a waste of a potentially good relase…
Clone Wars is a great show.
For the same reason Mandalorian and Rogue One excel: the Clone Wars era is the most active era that we've seen on the screen. There's stuff going on every direction you look. I even remember watching an episode as a kid in which Ashoka loses her lightsaber and tries to get it back before Anakin kills her. It explores stuff the major films outright ignore, or at least gloss over.

Yes, I agree with everything you said about Rogue One.

For Solo’s release, Avatar 2 had long been slated for that December 2018 slot and they didn’t want to compete. It was cancelled, and they asked for them to push Solo to December. Disney execs said no, go pound sand. And they paid the price for it, quite literally.
