dont blame me if i dont make any sense, made this at a very late hour
After my "exit" to appraising in late 2018 ( here ), I mentioned how even though I was regularly being tagged in 2017 and early 2018 for appraisals, I was still bad and not ready. This applies to most people appraising right now, unfortunately, but this has escalated.
It has come to my attention that there is a "snowball effect" going along in the appraisals section, caused by anyone who has the balls to appraise first when a thread is created. A singular inaccurate appraisal made by any "reputable" appraisal person can cause a series of inaccurate appraisals by phonies who can't give their own opinion.
An example? There's more than this:
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/453106/ - First thread appraising similar names
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/457661/ - Second thread appraising similar names
Lets REALLY focus on the names "Hanger" and "Rabbits" for this, in the first thread, a person you all know as katana2 gave an inaccurate appraisal on those two names. And because of this, many inaccurate appraisals followed. Because for some reason, people can't give their own opinion, so they postfarm and try to act like everyone else instead of voicing their opinion. Remember, appraisals ARE opinions! But it's clear, through many threads, that nobody has the balls to even give their opinion because they think whoever posted first is right so they follow.
In the second thread, rotteN gave a more exact appraisal, now even so, another appraisal followed looking very similar (The agree button exists for a reason).
We take appraisals and people who appraise for granted. ANYONE, even people who think they know their prices always ask for appraisals to their accounts. Inaccurate appraisals like these caused by people who don't wanna be "wrong" for voicing their opinion (opinion can't be wrong) can cause the market to shift into shit, and can cause accounts to become more aids thanks to resellers with half a brain.
Now, my point of this thread is to give yall a warning on the accuracy of the appraisals section. I really don't wanna call out any names, but people who can actually appraise probably know who I'm talking about. Everyone here needs to go with their gut, nobody cares if one appraisal isn't accepted, it may be correct! After all appraisals are opinions for the billionth time and don't let agrees or disagrees let you down. Now there's a difference between going with your gut and not knowing how to appraise, if you feel like you are just way too off with your appraisals, do not go to deliberately copy others to postfarm, you won't learn anything by copying. You learn and then you earn, and by earn I mean knowledge and respect.
TLDR: Inaccurate appraisals made by the first poster in an appraisal thread can cause a snowball effect where users copy the other appraisals with minor differences because they don't wanna look wrong or voice their opinion. People who are tagged a lot aren't as reputable as you think and this snowball effect is causing market shifts and more inaccuracy in determining an accounts' cost.
