I don't think it's realistic to say no one has ever noticed this, but now it's inevitably true: there are more developers now than customers. I've noticed the Selling to Buying ratio tags and over the past months, it's been getting worse and worse.

Look at this shit. Not 1 buying in this one "scroll." Now I can tell you that there are in fact 4 "Buying" tags on that page and 29 "Selling" tags (no this isn't cherry picked). This leads me to believe less and less people are looking to create, improve, or just add something new to their server, which then leads me to believe Minecraft's been dying. I've said this before but got nothing but denial 4 months ago. I feel that Minecraft and the Minecraft market have now turned into a surplus. Just common-known fact, if the supply increases, the price decreases, which will, in turn, cause developers to leave, which wouldn't be a bad thing with how anyone with a brain and access to the internet can learn Java and the spigot API. Anywho, what are your thoughts on this? I want a discussion really. :p

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Perhaps people know better than to get development from here when there's sites like spigotmc (no, not listed as competitor), which is almost completely focused around development.

There are still lots of more customers than developers, they just don't want to buy plugins and when they look for a plugin for free they typically get it from a plugin website and not a forums (for example: Spigot).

Typically, a buyer will entire the site then see the threads selling, so he wont bother creating a thread and will just contact one of the developers listed infront of him.

Minecraft isnt dying, in June 2016 minecraft hit 100 million sales, in about half a year in 2017 they gained a massive 22 million increase and in 2018 they got another 22 million, they most likely broke the 150million sales barrier by now.

And 75 million monthly players.

Thanks for your guys' inputs. I just want to add that Spigot's, at least in the Hiring - Developers section, last post requesting a developer was May 31st, which is close to a month ago.
Second thought, I don't think there could be a selling thing for everything a server owner is looking for. One day or another they're going to need something custom just for their server which leads me to my next and final point/idea.
Maybe servers are just hiring developers personally? This could be the problem and makes the Plugins and Development section feel... empty. Adding on to this thought, it could very well be the widely unregistered "Companys" or businesses that promote themselves with the "Offering" tag. I honestly find these groups annoying, trashing a lot of threads and such, but that is probably a contributing factor. Is this a good thing? Or is it drying out the Minecraft Marketplace?

If you are serious about coding you should go into other sections that minecraft coding. I know a guy from australia who learned coding then had to move to Taiwan (I think) because of his mom's work. He is working for their government and all he does is check the security for bugs and finds like 1 a month, but that's all he does and makes 120k a year. I know coders working on game/app development can make upwards of 500k for their programs. These minecraft developers usually aren't as serious as real coders, so there are a lot of them like how there are some pro gamers, but everyone thinks they're a pro gamer, so there are just a ton of people coming into coding, but thinking everyone just wants their program. A lot of cumstomers, like others said, would rather use something free, and reliable than spend 50 dollars for a private mod. + servers are sort of in a downfall and a lot of popular servers are dying. PvP servers are having harder times running, big boys like mineplex are at an all time low, and others are experiencing the same. New servers usually don't have a big budget so also rely on free plugins since there is a risk and they're new to server making. Experienced server owners have started to die off and it's mainly new servers. These are just sort of all my reasonings for why. I wouldn't go into plugin making for you because if you are serious about coding you should go to school for that and get a real job and if you aren't serious and just do it cause it makes okay money then get a job because programming is just as time consuming, but you'd make more than on minecraft.
