What Host do you recommend? (does not have to be answered if u don't feel comfortable) - Anvilnode, great host, and we were doing just fine with 4GB of ram, 65 or so plugins, and 70 ish players. We had around 17tps the whole time, a bit of lag here and there, however over all not bad at all.

How much is good to waste on adv? - It all depends, you can do what we did, and at the start, just spent random money on random types of advertisements. However, a good number to start out with is, get 500$ or so, and look for some youtubers between 25-100k subs, who get around 15-50k views+ a video, and get them to record a bit, once you spent your 500$, you should in retrospect, make back that 500+ a bit more, then you can get different youtubers, or look into getting slots and so on.

What site do you recommend for advertisement? - Currently, we use TopG.org for a slot site, however, minecraftservers.org would be a better choice, granted it costs a bit more, you are more likely to get better results. However, advertising wise, I would recommend getting some SEO/PPC advertising, as it will generate the most results for you.

It is indeed the hardest part, anyone can make a server, but marketing/advertising is a struggle. I would suggest looking for an advertising manager to help you out as well. That is what I had done, and it is proving to be a good choice.

My first server, my grandma helped me pay for, ofc the money from that server she had gotten, but she set it aside for me. Then, once that server went down, we had between 75-175$ or so, maybe a bit more, as this was a good while ago. Then, we started another one, maybe 1 year later, and at this point I had my own paypal, so I set it up to the buycraft, and she sent me the money that I had made, and from there we made my next server "InvictaCraft" Which made a little over 1,500$ on it. That money was then set aside, and we made our next server only 6 months later, called CanadianPrison, this server was one hell of a ride. It started as KitPvP, then it went to OpPrison, when it was KitPvP, and OpPrison, then we remove KitPvP, and rename the server to CanadianPrison, we made alittle over 2,800$ off this server, in about 5 months or so. That server sadly went down due to some issues with staff, and some bugs that we had. However, after me quiting MC for about 2 months, I came back, ready to work again, I spent almost 3 months working on GhostPrison on my own, however I slowly started to put a team together, and eventually the server was done just 3 more months later. We have been Open since November 1st, and we are about 2 months, and 1 day old. And, lets just say we made over 2,000$ already. [DOUBLEPOST=1483380347][/DOUBLEPOST]If you are looking to get into owning a server, and do not know what host to use, here are my recommendations:

- Anvilnode at only 4$ a GB, and blazing fast support, they are by far the best choice, they are very easy to talk to, and will help kindle your needs to your budget! All around great host, they are the host that we use for my server "GhostPrison"

- Klanx at only 1.50$ Per GB, they have amazing support, and all around very understanding, klanx is a great owner, and is very good at what he does. Would recommend these guys if you are on a bit more of a budget!

- FadeHosting at only 5$ a GB, this is a great host for those who have the money to spend, they have great support, and are very helpful. This is a good host to get if you are not to good with minecraft servers in general, as the owner of FadeHost used to help me with almost everything! Also, they have VPS hosting starting @ 20$ Per 5GB, that is what I used them for, and we had no problems, great host, and would recommend them if you have the money to spend!


This is my list of hosts that I feel are the best option for people who want to get into owning a server, or if you already own a server, but are unsatisfied with your host, here are some more options to choose from.

I am gonna also state that RAM is not something you need a lot of! Most people think, the more ram, the better. However, this is not the case. The CPU/Cores is what you are looking for! That is what runs the server, not the RAM. Ram is simply just storage for the server, so you can have the plugins, builds etc that you have.

• Prison/OpPrison - 3-6 GB is more than enough for under 75 playerbase.
• Factions/OpFactions - 4-8 GB is plenty for factions, smaller servers under 30+ players I suggest 2-4 GB, however as the server gets bigger, more tnt, withers etc, more spawners and so on, you'd want a bit more ram to balance out everything.
• SkyBlock - 3-5 GB is enough to run a skyblock server under 75 players or so.
• KitPvP - Typically PvP servers are not a whole lot to run, and they do not take up to much ram etc. So, 2-4 GB is more than suffice.
• Survival - 2-4 GB is beyond enough!

In total honesty, I see this more as a braggy thread rather than a "good luck to you all". Looking at your posts, it just seems to me that youre overly proud of your sudden jump in playercount.
