Personally I like the idea of them, people create sometime, put their time into it and creates something enjoyable. They should be rewarded for their time and effort.
They are rewarded for there time and effort? If there effort is high, then they should get customers for that product? Same, with there time if they spend 20 minutes making a factions setup then obviously it would be low quality.
Premium plugins just essentially mean that the developer actually cares about it, or in my eyes anyway. If I were to make a plugin and stop maintaining it, I'd just open source it or sell it on.
With the "Premium" tag, you're paying for the support and fixes you get from the developer, rather than it just being public software.
I find premium plugins are always managed and updated, also it helps motivate the authors to keep the project alive, well worth the money in my opinion.
