Tips for an aspiring server owner?

Hi! Recently I've become really interested in owning a server, I knnow that SMP servers are doing well right now, and I was looking for any tips about where to find good setups, how to grow a playerbase from nothing, how much my budget should be, and any tips in general.

Heyo,

I think the biggest thing when it comes to making a server is how unique it can be made. You'll have a better chance catching someone's eye with something unique then replicating what's already out there.

My personal opinion of course -- regardless, best of luck to you, should you pursue creating a server!
