So yeah, i am 14 now and since i was 9 years old i just want to code.

I love the thought of being able to create your own program, i have thought of many programs to make, that could be very successful and cool

I love computers, if i could, i would spend my life on them 24/7, they are the best, i also love smartphones(android).

Over the years i have picked up a few skills, like editing and such.

But for some reason, everytime i start with coding, i end up doing it for a week then giving up.

I still have a subscription with team treehouse, but I feel it worthless because i never use it.

I want to make android apps, and then migrate to software, and then migrate to having a general knowledge

I mean for god sake my dream job is to be a programmer.

But idk, i like java and understand the basics.

I just can't seem to stay with a course until the end for like 1-2 months.

Any tips to combat this?

Pick a more abstracted programming language such as Python. You'll feel more productive and be motivated to learn since you'll instantly start making useful stuff.

what can i make with python? Because the reason i am interested in java is it does all the stuff i want to do, like apps and such[DOUBLEPOST=1539422539][/DOUBLEPOST]
Exactly. I personally toughed it out to learn Java but you can easily start making useful programs like web bots on your first day with python.
like what type of programs? and is it a difficult language?

What kind of apps do you want to code?
well i wanted to code an app that uses the snapchat api to automate something within snapchat meaning the user doesn't have to do it.[DOUBLEPOST=1539422910][/DOUBLEPOST]
What kind of apps do you want to code?
I have also always been interested in software, but not just plain software you know? like something that is a mod software, or something like that,

can python create a nice software?

Yes, Python is a Turing-complete language, meaning it can do just as much as any other language.

https://github.com/mpolden/pysnap (might be deprecated, but you could probably make your own API)

Heh, nice. It's always good to have a centralised place for code. When I started out, that was basically pre-github/when github was very very very new. So never take GitHub and stuff like that for granted.

Take a look at some tutorials for Python, Java, JS, C#, VB.NET (don't argue, it's a choice). Choose which one you like the most, after trying some out, because quite frankly: the more you like the language, the easier it'll be to write in; the more dedicated you will be. You can always move on to other languages in the future, just remember.

There's no one-size-fits-all. But if you want to make a full blown game, you could go for Unity in C#. You could go with Unreal too if you were feeling a bit adventurous. Googling engines helps.

You’re thinking too far ahead. Right now you want to learn a language which is ‘the best’ to make software/games and such. You shouldn’t immediatly want to make software and games.

You should start with something you like. You can take a course on Udemy for example, and just follow it. When you complete that course, you have a basic understanding if whatever you learned. You can then do random stuff with it to be comformtable with it, or you can take another course which will be on a higher level.

Don’t think you’ll start making software immediatly. You’re beginning at the start, and the finish is a long run. If you want to complete that run is up to you.

if im being honest, I truly want to make one app, its an app that has an amazing idea behind it and I really wanna make it. But java is so difficult to stick through learning[DOUBLEPOST=1539434769][/DOUBLEPOST]

I always want to complete it, it just that when I start the course, even though I really wanna be able to call myself an app developer, I just can never finish a course

I bought an android app course on udemy, and did about half of it, but that was a year ago and I pretty much forgot everything

I take an Udemy course every two weeks. I don’t always complete all the courses but I do learn from them. You should look for short courses, not courses with like 200 lessons. If you find a short course, you can easily finish it.

Also, I don’t know what you’re perspective is about purchasing these courses. Many people think they’re too expensive. But remember: You learn new abilities which you can use to follow your passion.
