Tips: How to make nice looking website

How would I go about making a good looking website that is responsive. I want to make one for my company that will be coming soon. Any tips?

Im a 3year java developer.

i'd purchase / make a graphic mockup by a good designer, I believe MTG does them- ony one i know though but many people do it

Look at some web designs on Pinterest, onepagelove, etc. and see what you like/don't like about them. Then, using a designer program like Adobe XD, make a mockup of what you want your site to look like. Then start making that site using HTML and CSS only (you'll need to be quite savvy with CSS to do this efficiently). You can make responsive sites by including media queries in your CSS.

For responsivity, if you are already comfortable with making websites with pure HTML/CSS, try using something like Bootstrap, Bulma, Foundation, etc. It helps a lot but (warning!) you should still be able to do without it. As Shaun mentioned, media queries are useful and flexbox too.
