I personally only use Mc-M to browse scam reports, however I've noticed that a lot of times, people can easily claim that they've been "impersonated".

Therefore, I would like to suggest a change of rules so that all sellers of any services need to provide their contact information on their profile in order to be able to sell services/goods. (For example, a field that asks people to input when they create their profiles)

By making such contact information mandatory (and right at the first page of a person's profile), not only will it protect the seller from impersonators, it'll also prevent scammers from using the "I got impersonated" excuse. Currently, the "I got impersonated" excuse is practically very hard to proof false, a person could just pretend to be an impersonator themselves and scam people.

It could also display a small warning i.e. "Please double check if their contact info matches before dealing with them offsite!"

Therefore with this change, it will not only protect sellers from being framed, it'll also protect buyers as well.

Thanks for reading!

You're dumb if you're able to get impersonated. Just verify on site

If people just did all their deals on site this wouldn't be as much of an issue.
Sometimes, people who uses random Minecraft development related discords could simply say "Hey I am *links a random Mc-M profile page*" even if the seller doesn't deal offsite. This can definitely provide better protection for the users even if the seller doesn't deal offsite.[DOUBLEPOST=1569907981][/DOUBLEPOST]

Some people that get scammed by impersonators don't even use Mc-Market themselves

This is just a very very simple QoL change that helps both buyers and sellers on/off site. I don't know why everyone is so against it[DOUBLEPOST=1569908794][/DOUBLEPOST]
What're you talking about? If they're dealing on site then impersonation isn't possible.
Even if the seller only deals on site, an impersonator can simply impersonate someone through discord, and scam someone who has never used Mc-Market before.

If for some reason they're dumb enough to trust someone solely off of their word, then when they get scammed they'll learn from it.

There's not much you can do about it because if they're that trusting, then they'd probably be easily convinced to ignore the contact information anyway.

There’s already a discord contact form on your profile. In addition to that, if you aren’t posting contact details in a sense you are being more secure.

Anyways, verify on-site and use @zygers letter checker.

I rather deal off-site, but I always confirm who it is unless they directly give me their @ and when they do, I take an image for proof. Hell, ask Daigan, I asked him to verify he was Daigan on site before I sent him a nitro code even though doodle told me to send it to Daigan. I take precautions for things. Look at my SR report on me, the user didn't check my profile and got scammed, because I've had that post about my @ for ages now, and before that, it was listed under my contact information. It's up to the buyer to make sure who they're dealing with is correct.

I don't feel like having people spam my discord with sell offers of some shit or other just to prevent me being impersonated.
If people want to contact me for a commission they can go through PM on here, on PMC or on Twitter. That way they know it's really me. Problem solved.

The people who fall for impersonation scams are typically people very new to the site who wouldn't even consider the possibility of impersonation being a thing that happens and so they are trusting. Implementing your change would overly restrict people doing deals and not actually improve the impersonation problem in my opinion.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
