Well, what I mean by "Top active user of the month" is the most active user of the month, you guys will check how many messages and reactions they got. The most active user will get a shoutout/ MCM will shout-out him in announcements.

How will this benefit MCM: People will want to get shoutouts so more people will start being more active and MCM will have a more active Base. Also, people might start checking the site more and get into buying upgrades which will help the community!

How will this benefit them: He will get shout-outed so people will check out his profile and he may advertise his service there and people will go check it out.

You could also add things like the Top chatter of the month, Top reactions of the month, Top reputations of the month, Top donator of the month, etc.

Huge amount of work considering the number of users on this forum, and also somewhat difficult to determine what would be considered shit posting and what would not. People can argue their posts are genuine. A lot of work for the sake of one small feature. Its hard for mods to deal with as it is, encouraging it will only make matters worse.

This won't encourage anything, neither would it benefit us. As Fire has said, there will be much more shit posters and tryhards that aim to achieve this "shoutout". You will have to consider the reaction to messages ratio. Not saying it might be necessarily "shit posting", but people do often make duplicate threads, argue or necropost which definitely does not benefit anyone else. Top chatters are already in the shoutbox but I'm not sure whether they give out anything for that, top donators are practically useless since people usually donate during charity events and top reputations of the month doesn't mean much. You can boost your reputation by helping people, talking to people and doing the simplest things so to me, reputation isn't even a big deal.

the only 'benefit' is bragging rights, and honestly this reward will most likely be useless, since 90% of the time it will go to one of a very limited amount of people, being Doge, me, Remibarna, Deep, Kman and Shattered, for example, or anyone from the first page of 'notable members'. I still seem to average more than two hundred posts per month, and honestly I doubt many people other than those referred to can match that while keeping up with reasonable content quality.
It would honestly be a bit like the PMC Project contests for teams, it's always gonna be one of THOSE guys that wins.

As others have said, this will be extremely difficult to judge and decide, especially if we're doing it each month. If we do it based off of activity the same people will win it every time and if we do it off of staff members opinions it will just cause unnecessary drama from users complaining about biasness and stuff like that.
