Has anyone ever had any experience with Topg.org's slots? I'm considering purchasing one however I'm not sure if it's worth it. If you have, how many joins/day average because of it? I talked to someone a while ago but he had a very small server and everyone else who seems to buy it has servers that are on the larger side with 100+ players.

Honestly not worth it.

I paid $150 for a 1 week slot.
We had about 300,000 views on the banner itself via imgur.
Just checked now with TopG's stats: 446,029 views

I used Minetrends to monitor it.
It was pretty great at the time [I never have advertised before at the time].
We had about 100+ join everyday and over 4-5 days around 1000+ join.
However less than 30 people stayed.
I will note my server was unfinished [Specifically no shop and little to do so this is entirely on me].

However... [Now that my server is finished] I purchased a 1 hour .Org slot last weekend on Sunday (at around 10pm mind you, NOT prime hours) and we went from 5-10 players to 55 with probably 300-500 joins.
We get an average of 30 per day now and the 1 hour ad already paid itself off.

For me personally 1 .Org ad is by far more worth it compared to TopG (And it's cheaper usually).
Yes, my server wasn't ready at the time, however I honestly doubt it would have changed that much...
300-500+ joins vs 1000 over an entire weeks worth.
If you're getting players all at once, players will stay. Not over the course of a week when you have a lower player count so more than likely they won't join.

I was going to go with .org however I can't because it won't ping my server for some odd reason.

I've got a playerbase already and I'm just wondering if this would grow it especially since this is over the holiday break.

Maybe just test it out. If I get any $$$, I might rent one over Christmas or in January or something and see how it goes, probably not though.

Honestly if I'm able to get 100+ joins daily over the break that'll grow my server a bit. And if you said multiple hundred on some days, that's very likely to help a lot. Especially since I have a complete server with a decent sized community.
I just want multiple opinions on topg.

Weird, after we got out ad up [Paid slot... it was already offline] it took like 15-20 minutes even after .Org pinged it around 4x.
It was finally online, but... as for in general I'd say it's best to use a 25565 port and an A Record. You do not need an SRV unless it's something other than 25565. Either way... it's not guaranteed they will connect to your port 100% of the time. Another network I host, their players join another because it's 25565 (I'd say their SRV Records aren't 100%, but eh).

To me...
If you're getting all these joins ALL at once. They will stay.
If you're getting like 100 in one day, more than likely... they're not joining all at once so the likelihood of them staying goes down a lot more vs... having a lot more players on at once with more people joining.
That's just based on what I've done though.

Also it helps if you and your staff are really engaging and friendly, otherwise they might not ;3 Ex: Welcome messages...
+ throw a few drop parties while you're at it. It won't hurt too bad in the long run if you actually keep those players.

Either way good luck! :D

I'm honestly just wondering how effective it is. I can't use .org because it can't ping my server for some very odd reason. It has nothing to do with the 25565 port or my host, it's something with their site and it happened over a month ago and nothing's been done to fix it or anything so I can't rent a slot. All I want is more information about TopG, how effective their banner advertising is for 16 days.

Ouch... that's really strange.
I'd say if you do TopG, ensure you have staff on it all the time, an amazing spawn, easy to follow directions and things that are very appealing to players.
Yes, many will join and leave within seconds, however don't be discouraged. Just ask them for suggestions and ask them what plugins or things they like to do to help see what you can add to make it more unique, fun and diversified.

The key is to be engaging, compliment them ex: their skin, strike conversations and do things that keep them talking and learning about the server. Ex: Did you know facts or something alike.

Topg slots are now $450 for 2 weeks - 150 was worth it, 450 is not.

Topg has a lot of traffic on the face of it, but a vast amount is not minecraft related as they host a multitude of other game server lists. Coupled with the fact that the banner is dynamic (IE it may not be shown to everyone) imo makes it a bit of a rip off at $450.

Do you think there's a chance I'd get 100+ minimum joins daily?

Potentially yes, if your server has a reasonable play count to entice people to join, id expect joins like that on average.
