Make a tos agreement method to remove the whole he said she said situation.

vjRNLBj.png

Things that should be added to make this work:
- Viewable log to show if someone agreed or declined the tos
- Viewable Timestamp that shows when the user agress to the tos
- Viewable timestamp at when the tos was last changed and the ability view previous version.
- A way for ops to view who agreed to the tos.
- A Web interface where staff aswell as ops can view documentation that's needed.
- A section in threads and pms

Post your ideas down below :)

What's wrong with just asking the person "Do you agree to these terms and conditions"?

What's wrong with it is that some people might forget to do that and end up losing a scam report against a scammer.

Even if we add a ToS agree section, it has to be prompted in some way to the buyer. How will it be delivered? The seller is still going to have to send it to the buyer one way or another. Having this is just an overly complicated way of sending a ToS to a buyer.

You can add a system where when you PM a user, you get prompted with questions such as:

"for a deal"
"other matters".

If they click "for a deal", they will be prompted to accept the tos set by default by the other user(on a tab on the preferences area).

They will accept the tos, and then they will be allowed to PM(and on the pms there will be a highlight above the title called "accepted TOS").

Complicated, but the best feature this site could ask for to prevent tos scams.

The last thing we really need is to make existing actions more complicated for the end user. For something so trivial, I don't think implementing a selection before starting a conversation is necessary. If you can think of a seamless way of integrating this, then I personally do not have a problem with it. However, basically every way I can think of involves the seller needing to prompt the buyer to accept the terms in one way or another, in which case why not just message them something similar to "Do you accept these terms?".

"Please confirm that you have read and accept my ToS"
"I have and I do"
*takes screenshot of that and context

problem solved. not difficult, and definitely doesnt need a button

I feel like he's fighting it because it's too hard for him Kappa

Because they might forget, or they might do it on purpose. They'll use the counter argument of "yeah, well I put it on the thread"(probably in 1 font size text)

Funny, however I always ask my users to accept my TOS, but some might forget, and then a scam report ensues, think before you speak :)?
If you forget, thats your problem. McM will not and should not enforce people's ToS for them. that is YOUR responsibility, and if you forget, that's too bad.

On the fence about this one.

I agree with Lyphiard that it isnt that much needed add-on. People should re-state their tos and ask for a clear confirmation before doing a deal to ensure that the other party knows there is a tos and that you can bring that the user confirmed a user tos.

I also like how this add-on can help fight tos manipulation and manipulation of evidence.
- Viewable Timestamp that shows when the user agress to the tos
- Viewable timestamp at when the tos was last changed and the ability view previous version.
both of these would be great for a scam resolver to have, to make sure that the seller didn't manipulate the tos AFTER the deal is finished.

I will give you a "meh" rating.

I mean if this was added this would also remove the possibility of it being faked or forged (If the deal was done off site). Everything would be documented to ensure accuracy. Plus this would save time in the long run. Scam reports would eventually just be did you for fill this? No? Refund. Done. Not so much about the story. Because a TOS makes people accountable for their actions. If they don't for fill their agreement its very easy to see.

If you haven't noticed already, adding these types of features takes more than a click of a button. It takes a lot of time to plan and develop it so that it works seamlessly with the rest of the site--time that could otherwise be spent working on another feature that could be a lot more useful. The point of this section is to discuss the pros and cons of a feature, not for us to add every single feature requested.

I do get your point, but the staff members can see post edit history along with timestamps for basically everything. Although it might take a bit longer, it has essentially the same effect.

Most of the services who use a TOS just have terms that are already protected by MCM through their rules on scamming. I've always seen them as useless for services on this site for the most part.

Here's the easiest way for us all to avoid the "He said, she said" of a scam report.

4d9e9a8658ff4011a6bb75bac0e08fec.png

Lay your ToS out in front of them in MCM messages, where they can't edit it out. Even if your ToS is on the thread or your signature or somewhere else, just always lay it out so there's no way they CAN'T see it. If you always do deals in this manner, your buyer can never argue that they "Didn't agree to the ToS because they didn't see it". We don't need a whole button and system developed to do what's so easily do-able here in MCM PM's. If you wish to avoid any potential errors, always follow this code, and do not use Skype. It's pretty simple.

I can only really see this working out for resources, and it's already a feature for autobuy. Maybe just include the terms in your thread and remember to mention it?
