Mc-Market the #1 minecraft sales forum, while on this forum we trade, sell and buy from items to services, we are looking for a nice safe community. All though the community is big and friendly, their are scammers which threaten the experience on here, and for that reason I decided to make a guide to protect users from being scammed.

Vouches
For new members a vouch is to show that a certain user is legit as he/she either has done successful deals before or people know that user. When dealing with a user, you should look at their vouches, if they have many vouches you could see they are a reputable person to deal with and probably will not scam you.
Reputation System
MC-Market has a system implemented called the reputation system. This system is in place for showing the feedback of previous deals the user had. You want to make sure the user youa re dealing with has positive reputation, if the user has negative or neutral reputation stay cautious of them. To check their reputation points, go on that users' profile page and click on 'Reputation'.
Scam Reports
Before dealing with a user, it is advised to check if any scam reports are made on the user, solved or not. This will help you know the users' past more and deal with more caution. You can check scam reports on http://www.mc-market.org/forums/101/, or if you have been scammed created one on http://www.mc-market.org/support/submit/scam-report.
Middleman
A middleman is a third person in the deal, whom may help both sides have a successful deal. It is advised both sides of the deal agree on the middleman as it would be safer that way. For those wondering how a middleman would help, it's fairly simple... let's say a user is selling an account, the middleman will get the account details and check the account, then the other user sends money to the middleman, and the middleman then sends money to the user selling the account and gives the account to the user buying it. For those looking for middlemans, you can find them at http://www.mc-market.org/forums/39/. Try getting a middleman which both sides agree on and which is a reputable member on MCM.
Third party websites
When doing a deal, it is advised to use third party websites. For those who don't know a third party website, much like a middleman is a third party in a deal. An example would be namecheap or fiverr. On namecheap their is a feature which you are allowed to sell your domains, and if you sell your domain through namecheap you will be immune from chargebacks. Fiverr is a website which allows you to sell your service, all though this won't make you immune, it gives more protection on both sides of the deal, so if someone gets scammed you can contact fiverr with proof.
Paypal
All though this reason isn't to prevent scams, it is to combat them. When it comes to paypal, their are two features F&F and G&S. It is advised when purchasing something to buy using G&S, if the other user decides to pull a fast one, it is easier to win a chargeback using G&S rather than F&F.
Reputable Members
More so going back to vouches and reputation system, it is advised you deal with reputable members. A reputable member isn't a member whom has a lot of reactions, a reputable member is a member who benefits the community in some shape or form, has done a lot of MCM, is someone you could go to for advice. Now you may be thinking, why? If you look at it clearly, you could see reputable members have more to lose, they built up their reputation and spent time on the site, now if you look at newer members, they don't have a strong reputation, they are probably the users who will scam someone as they have less to lose.
Double Check
When purchasing something be sure to double check. Proof can easily be faked, but double checking live will help out. Now you may ask, TheBlur what do you mean by live? Well I'll give you an example, let's say someone is selling an account and takes a picture of them saying <Username> - MC-Market on a server, well if you're interested in the account, before purchasing ask the user to go on the server and message you in game. This will help you confirm that the user does indeed have proof that he/she owns the account.
How to gain a reputation:
Previously in the thread I discussed on how to prevent/combat scams, but now I will discuss how to gain a reputation.
Vouch Copies:
For those who don't know, a vouch copy is when you offer your service/item for free in return for a vouch. As stated before, vouches help you get more business and reputation as people see you had successful deals in the past.
Help out the community:
Do you see a member in need of help? Well feel free to lend them a hand, this will help users see how kind you are and see the better of you.
Be nice:
Simple, just being nice will help you build up a reputation, whether it's lending a helping hand or saying hi/bye, being nice will help build a reputation.
Other:
While looking through MCM in the past 2-3 days, I saw a lot of scam reports and reading through them I knew I had to make a thread like this. I was inspired by 2 specific threads (Stated on the top of the thread), and I highly advise you to read their threads as well. We can make MCM a better place than it is today, not by ourselves but together. If we combat the scammers and prevent them from being able to scam, we can help this marketplace, become better than it ever was. I know I may be a new member, but it doesn't mean I can't be beneficial to the community, every member can... so together we could better this community.
