I also had another american person speak to me on minecraft, him and the one from skype were talking about them sometimes just spending their time in school watching videos ? Is that school.. or... what? Not sure USA takes school very seriously :/
I do that when I'm bored and it's rainy. Don't tell me you don't have like at least one 1:15 break? I'm from Portugal doe.

It's hard to say really. It can all depend on what school you go to in each country. Here in America we have a lot of shitty schools, but we also have a few great schools. I'm sure the UK also has a some shitty schools here and there. As far as the learning curriculum goes the UK probably beats the US. I don't even try in school, and get good grades.

UK. Cambridge markers are very strict and the syllabus is hard for students to follow. I'm from Singapore but we use Cambridge as I quote my tcher "The most challenging examination you will ever take". We legit send 30000 students papers every year for marking at Cambridge

Also, i have another idea. What exam board does your school use in the USA ?[DOUBLEPOST=1466003814][/DOUBLEPOST]
Blue Valley is pretty hard. One of the top school districts in the nation. But UK is pretty hard. Although I haven't seen a lot of UK people innovate, invent or patent things. But idk, maybe I'm wrong
In the UK, we only invent quality items, if someone wanted to, we could patent a bag of dog **** but our country isn't like yours so we don't do that. :p

E.g. Boeing...
How many times has that boeing dreamliner had problems ? Many of times from battery problems to engine failures. Even that b747 is the most ugly inefficient thing i have ever seen :p

what do you mean ? I meant, i was told that they watch a lot of videos in class. In the UK we have a varied range of teaching methods. Also, i have a 20 min break and a 45 min break in each day at school.[DOUBLEPOST=1466006853][/DOUBLEPOST]And also tbh, no offense but Americans are a bit behind and a bit slower than the rest of the world.
The other night, i was watching a programme with Stephen Hawking in it and these people were proving that the lake wasn't flat and showing us how the world was round.
But honestly, has it only just occurred to you Americans that the world is round ? The Americans on the programme seemed surprised and excited by the results...[DOUBLEPOST=1466006996][/DOUBLEPOST]
Wow!
Were you doing the Biology B1 Higher paper too ?
With the independent company, the drunk rats, 15 year old favourite alcoholic drinks, genetically modified mosquitos and the question involving standard form ?
I believe the grade boundaries are gonna be low if people do bad because they set them depending on the results.

ikr. The "compare the distribution of 15 year old boy and girls favourite alcoholic drinks" wasn't that bad. Except i just thought to myself, wtf am i doing ? Never remember the teacher gong over this. It was easy enough though, nice two marks. The standard form was quite easy because we were aloud a calculator. I don't think i got a right answer for "whats an independent company".

Did you do your Chemistry C2 + C3 today ?

This is a dumb question. School is only as hard as your goals within it. Anyone can pass doing absolutely nothing while on the flipside anyone who is looking to do well later is going to have the goal of learning the material. Both countries output people that are credible in their field so if the highest levels are the same the lower levels aren't that much different. If anything, I'd say the U.S. has a slightly harder system because they have a larger population and can afford to flunk out more people with the amount of high achieving immigrants in the colleges here.

If anything, China has got the absolute hardest school system in the world. A billion people, a bunch of corruption, parents paying off teachers to get their kid ahead, only a very small fraction of people are left with a good education. Trying to succeed there without a lot of money would suck.

I'm sitting here in Denmark thinking. Wtf is all of this shit? Year 11, unit 1, college, sat, act, gcse?

In Denmark it is very simple. School goes like this: 0. - 9. grade is required by law. After 9. grade you can choose 10. grade which is optional. Or get an profession education (which is a direct education for a profession when you finish you can work for that field only, and things that require 9. grade). After this you can further read on your profession or just work there. Please note that before you ask, why not just choose these, these are commonly very "easy" jobs, they are more practical than educational, and therefore a common route for people doing not so well in school. (You can choose stuff like, Plumbering, Glass installing, Electrical Installing, Wood Making etc..). It usually takes 2 - 3 years.

Or (which is more common), move on to gymnasium which is 1 - 3, and would probably be considered something like high school, in gymasium you can choose, STX (Standard Education, basicly 0 - 9 on higher niveau. Gives more options) HHX (Trade Education, you can become things in business), HTX (Biological, Tecnical, Physics, Maths, IT..), Hf (basicly for older people).

After gymasium you can choose Universitys bacholers education or Professions bacholers education. (These are basicly all the jobs that are not included in Profession Education). They usually take 3 - 5 years. After this you can take Candidate Education which is around 2 years, and then a Ph.D which is around 3 years.

Btw, school is free. And if you are over 18 you get SU and get paid to go to school.

But I have a friend who went to school in the UK, and he believes it is very much harder than here in Denmark. So I would also believe it is harder than in the US.
