Uncompleted transaction, do I owe anything?

Hi. This is 100% going to sound stupid. I'm just being a worry-wart at the moment and just want to ask even if it's going to be stupid.

So months ago I did a transaction with someone via PayPal. Mid-way through the job their PayPal got locked. They've done work on it and I haven't been able to get my money back and the money is still in their account.

Hypothetically if I want to stop doing business with this person, don't have my money back nor do they have access to it (considering their account is locked), am I eligible? Do I owe the money for their work still?

If you sent them money it's there responsibility after that.

As long as you sent them money and paid that your end of the deal taken care of (I would assume unless you had any other documents written to say otherwise)?

I’m confused what your problem is (my reply assumes you have a job that you agreed to and you owe the rest down even though he did the work). If so, then PayPal can’t force you to pay it, but it’s a crappy thing to do (and mcm can ban you for it). You also could be sued, though I doubt it would be brought that far.

I paid someone, mid-way through the job his PayPal got locked. I didn't get my money back from PayPal and he can't access it. He needs to verify the account to get the money and I'm at a loss of money.

Thank you. Was sent by a business transaction via PayPal, no contract other than on Discord messages. I know that's stupid but I was pretty desperate at the time and needed some stuff worked on whilst I was shut-away with work.

It’s not your responsibility to pay 1.5x of the job because he got his PayPal locked. Not to mention, after 6 months he should be able to get access to those funds anyway, so I don’t know why he wouldn’t be able to.
