Update rule 3.1 in shoutbox

Well, I think rule 3.1 has gone to far, I would like to post links to other threads in MCM and other outside links, However, ban the links for other marketplaces. So that we cant advertise others.

I agree. Like two people ever complained about advertising in the shoutbox.

Completely banning advertisement from the shoutbox was an extremely drastic measure that very few people on this site would have ever wanted. This is a market website, so why there needs to be a chat that's purely for arguments, drama, and pointless conversations is beyond me.

If advertising was really an issue (which it wasn't!) then they simply could have increased the time between advertisements to every 10 minutes or every half hour, or something like that. But instead, they took the extremely drastic action of removing advertising completely from the shoutbox, based off of one thread that was very misleading in its poll. I think we can all agree that non-premium members should have *zero* say in this discussion because they have not paid for the right to utilize the shoutbox.

I hope that the people in charge of this forum can turn around this trend of going against the community and right one of the many wrongs they have recently done, including changing ratings (attempting to remove them entirely from the site), banning the sale of MC-accounts, and this.

I should also add that it is ridiculous that anyone should ever lose money just because people don't want their inane, useless shoutbox conversations to be interrupted. People make money off of shoutbox advertisements and even a single dollar is worth more than a thousand shoutbox conversations in my opinion.

I can say personally that whenever Monty & I advertised we usually exposed our homework service to members who were not aware of its existence due to the fact that our thread is located in a rarely visited part of the forum. It was usually a guaranteed way for us to get a PM or two or at least bring some sort of attention to our thread. The fact that anyone thinks it is acceptable for other members of the forum to lose business just so that they can have stupid conversations makes no sense to me.

In my opinion the only people who wouldn't want there to be advertising allowed on the shoutbox are people who don't provide any services on this website to advertise. And honestly speaking, I think unless you are a member of staff, if you don't provide any actual service here then you have no business being on a market website. There's plenty of other non-market websites that people like this can go to.
