Over the years, the point values and expiries for MC-Market’s warnings have changed in order to best meet the observed needs of our community.

Soon, we will be making the largest change to our warnings yet, by adding expiries for every warning type, ensuring that all points eventually expire.

However, unless past issued warnings are updated to also have an expiry, our current members holding onto a scary number of old points will not see the benefits of this change.

I would like if, after all of our current warnings are updated to have expirations, everyone’s past points are granted their corresponding expiries as well.

The issue with this is that there are some warnings which do not exist anymore.
Rules are added and rules are removed, and so are the warning types they’re associated with.
For these, I’d like to attach the same expiration duration as the lengthiest expiry of any of our warnings, once they’re updated. That should ensure none of them are expiring too soon, while also ensuring that they will eventually expire as well.

This would be a one time update to the expiries of all past warnings, in light of the importance and significance of this change, and they would not constantly be updated if the expiries of new warnings are ever modified in the future. Just as points are not.

To simplify further. Correlate expiry and the number of points. A simple system like 1 point = 1 month, or one on a curve of some kind, such that low tier warnings don't lose their value, but high tier warnings aren't given ludicrous expiry dates would take the subjectivity out of deciding at what rate warnings should expire.

Finally, an update the community has wanted is hopefully going to be added. Good job.

Yes, we get taught a lesson and we learn from our mistake as. We shouldn't have to have that mistake following us forever, and instead look back, see what we did wrong and correct it and actively ensure that we do not do it again.

Warning pts should expire, it shouldn't be a black spot on a white surface that will stay there forever

I agree, permenant warnings are a little excessive given that some of the rules people were being punished for are no longer existent.

I've only gotten two warning points during my time on here and I got them so many years ago that I don't really remember what I got them for. They just linger on my profile and remind me that I did something wrong at one point.

I'll move this to accepted now since we have implemented it a couple months back. Thank you Justis and everyone else for your input
