There are a lot of scammers here and alt accounters and having a phone verification system would reduce the number of scammers here. We could put this in place into Loans and Investments, and even make a rank so people know.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Wouldn’t scammers just verify there phone as well?
Yes, but then if they scam. MCM has their phone number and if any other account with the same phone number will be on the site. It will be automatically banned.[DOUBLEPOST=1542232522][/DOUBLEPOST]
Some people may not be fortunate enough to have a cell phone.
Some people may not want to risk putting their home / cell phone number on MC-Market (regardless if it's only for staff to see) because while there hasn't been any staff members hacked, the site hacked, etc. doesn't mean that it will never happen.

It's also not hard to get a phone number from an app, like Pinger/Text Free app.

In my opinion, this suggestion is not plausible.
But it does not mean if you do not have a phone, you can't be trusted. There are scammers out there and this would be a way to remove some of them.

Burner phones just saying, I could get a crap one from like tesco for £5.

People can scam a lot more than just £5.

Because it's that hard to get a throwaway number. My provider even allows me to request a new number straight through the app.

I think I have never seen an burner phone in my country. Prepaid cards, but not burners. But in America, there is tho. Good Point![DOUBLEPOST=1542232693][/DOUBLEPOST]

But would you do that? All of your family members need a new phone number. You would not do that.

I know that this will not completely stop scammers, but at least lazy ones. Most people selling items nowadays are new members with little not no rep. Not saying all of them are scammers, but it will clear out possible ones.

I can have an extra phone number which basically forwards all calls to my main number. I can just keep swapping this number too.

It works at least in Steam. If someone has a phone number, it does not mean their legit.

Its certainly not hard to get a number just go to google voice or burner for that, but this suggestion is just simply a bad idea. A verification system wouldn’t prevent anything, nor do anything but it’s not worth the time investing into the idea for the developers in the backend.
