Hey there, so as the title says, I need a dedicated server for hosting my entire network (which I hadn't released yet), I heard about OVHCloud, server4you, soYouStart, and some others. I estimate that the avg. players/month would be about 50-200 since the server is unique & and I plan to make good advertisements. So as of that estimation, I would need about:
  • 1 lobby server (50 players max each)
  • 3 minigame servers (4 max active minigames, some minigames can generate entire vanilla worlds so they can be CPU heavy sometimes, minigames player size vary to 2, 8, 16)
  • 3 other servers (30 players max each, can be a bit resource-intensive)
  • 1 Limbo server (like in Hypixel, has minimal resource usages.)
  • Redis
  • 1 BungeeCord
Also, I thought maybe use a VPS while my server is still under development so I can test my code and stuff. The VPS should at least have Redis. The addition of BungeeCord & Paper is optional. I heard Contabo would be a cheap option, so might give it a try.

In terms of income, I'm definitely not sure since I have no idea how to earn the best from the server. I estimate I would get about 1-10 purchases a month which might be worth $5-$100 each (would like someone to help me with managing the prices & features for each package, contact me on discord: parpar#1570).

Please let me know what I should do for each of the above. VPS is for testing, Dedi for release. Would like to get cheap but not scam (of course) hosting for VPS/Dedicated.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT TOUCH Contabo under any circumstances whatsoever.

Contabo is pretty bad, you might get away with it by using it just for testing but i think it would be better to localhost it if you have a decent machine, some host also offer free redis solutions if you want (Note this arent meant to be used in a production enviroment but they come pretty handy on testing)

If you wanna go cost effective just buy host your sub serves on a cheap host that has good hardware like Hetzner or Contabo and host your proxy (velocity, bungeecord etc.) on a OVH VPS. You could also just ditch OVH completely and host everything on Contabo and just hide behind TCPShield. The point is just buy a cheap host with good hardware and hide under a proxy hosted on a host with good DDoS protection.

Edit: Just make sure to hide your vulnerable really well, meaning if you use plugins like Dynmap that host their website directly on the plugin proxy the website through Cloudflare or something since they can get your server's IP that way too

alright, I do have a decent pc.

EDIT: Who gives Redis for testing? I was looking on Linode, maybe I can find it there?[DOUBLEPOST=1640823794][/DOUBLEPOST]EDIT: Hetzner prices look good, but they are all in Europe which is not ideal for me, I need something in the US/Canada.

Its not that contabo has bad ddos protection, i mean they do and if you get ddosed they can even cancel your server but it also has other bad things like bad support, downtime, long waits, they charge you for everything etc
