I was wondering which is better as I am looking to purchase a server. My friend is telling me to get a vps and get a multi craft
License ( around $20 per month)

Is it better to buy a vps or just stick with normal minecraft shared hosting

PebbleHost

Dont use a panel, use screen to directly interact with the server thru the VPS.

One thing to note if you do that, ensure the VPS you're buying is KVM or another supported virtualization type. If its OpenVZ, Xen etc, then there is a strong possibility that it won't support docker, therefore pterodactyl can't run on it. More info can be found in their docs: https://daemon.pterodactyl.io/docs make sure it will work, before spending money on the VPS. If it doesn't Multicraft's an option.

No, don't get multicraft. We sell servers at $1/GB if your interested to save some money and get shared hosting. Alternatively, if you want to go with what other users have said, we sell VDSes which would be what you would be looking for.
whats wrong with screen?

$1/gb? you must be running some fairly low-end machines.

Absolutely not.

It's a common misconception that minecraft requires a powerful machine. While this may be the case for large servers, for smaller servers and those who just want to get started with their servers, our machine specifications are plenty, and infact, our server performance is comparable with some $5/GB server hosts. Many hosts simply don't know how to budget or what they really need, and as a result it introduces unnecessary costs that then gets pushed down to the end user.

Don't get me wrong as I don't know what your specs are but It should be noted that CPUs like X820k/X770/X770K can't properly be used on a hosting company (X being the generation). Unfortunately I see a lot of cheap hosting companies using them and then their customers will have to deal with very low TPS.

I would go with the VPS if you have the extra funds, and if you need your panel setup let me know.
