This most likely was not their fault, depending on their backup solution they use this may not have been within their capablitys to do so
So you wanted them to setup backups going to a separate machine or on the same machine and they could not set this up for you?
Management would not be an issue for me as I know how to use Linux
So you asked them if they could do exactly that before purchase and then after they said no?
