Any developers want to make a website together? I'm bored with making meaningless website to improve my developer skills so I want to make an actual website that people can use and benefit from it. If you have any ideas for your own website / app or you want to work together with me and make a unique one you can contact me. I'm a front-end developer with HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery and Bootstrap skills (Learning NodeJS, Express, MongoDB..). PM me if you are interested in working together or want any information or to see my past work.

That is not the point, just don't go on other threads and shitpost. You think if you have 1000 reaction that your cool and smart?
I don't think I'm cool but, yes, I am smart. My question was a legitimate question. Why Node?

There are so many other better alternatives which end up landing you a much higher paying job. Ideally you should pick a language that is strongly typed, since they are usually fairly similar (assuming you do something C-based) and pay more than other languages.

If you are learning JavaScript for the backend, make that a side thing. Learn something completely new first. You know JS for frontend development, so that language is there already. Get another language in your skill set.

Also grow up.

I will learn what I want. I didn't ask nobody if NodeJS is good to learn so don't post on my thread asking "Why learn Node????", pretending to be a smartass.

Dude, I know you didn't ask that (also, learn about double negatives). I am just telling you that you're not doing what is best for your programming knowledge.

I am a lot more experienced than you are when it comes to development. You're still a kid by the sound of it. I'm a bit older and I've got years upon years of experience. Try taking advice and don't be such a little brat about it. I am a smartass, and that's how it goes. I don't act, that's just what I am.

Don't stop at JavaScript, even if temporary. Start learning something that will get you a nice job when you're older and you probably won't ever regret it.

I will learn what I want.
Also, I didn't tell you to not learn JavaScript for the backend (Node). I said that you should prioritise something else - preferably strongly typed - over what you're planning on learning now. Reason being that:
  1. You're more likely to get a high paying job with C-based languages;
  2. You learn about languages that aren't dynamic (SUPER IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT TO GET ANYWHERE IN LIFE AS A DEVELOPER);
  3. You learn about OOP;
  4. And finally... get this... you learn more about other methods of programming in general!
You can fight back all you want, but you're only limiting yourself. Don't be silly.

I agree with this, if you're looking for another strong backend language for web, id suggest java (in my opinion at least), its a strict language not loose, you can create desktop software and also web, the framework id suggest also is called Spring. And use Hibernate for the database operations.

I think you'll find that its equally sided in terms of jobs. There are a ton of software development jobs, and a ton of website development jobs. You can't make a statement like that when you're a biased software developer.

If you're calling me a biased software developer, I'd just like to make you aware that software development isn't my expertise - web development is. Software development is merely my job (it includes quite a bit of web dev, too), and fits right under web development. :)

Based on your title, I assumed you were a software developer... and it comes across like your a little bit biased. Node opens a shit ton of doors as well.

Don't assume that type of stuff.

Also Node opens a lot of doors, I can't agree more. I just don't think they're very good doors to be opened.

Could you elaborate?
I don't think a language that can't do maths properly by default should be used on the backend.

Plus, my experience with JavaScript is that JavaScript libraries (modules in node) are often cluttered. Also indented with 2 spaces, which is horrifying - but that's just a pedantic complaint. :p

Hey i really want to code with someone too but im a newbie (but know a few advanced concepts) at html and css basically. I just learn better by doing stuff. I know java but i decided to do learn html and css for next few months with both teamtreehouse and pluralsight. If you are still looking for people to code with pm me and we can dc or something. Coding in groups can be more fun.
