It's fucking stupid when people revive these old threads.
Well that's the whole point of the suggestion, thanks for just saying what he was saying in a more mature way.

Currently, threads 6 months or older automatically get closed so people can't post on super old threads. Should probably be changed to like 3 months in my opinion.

I wouldn't call this the brightest decision. There have been some cases where forums used these systems, and ultimately had to remove them because new users came along and wanted to revive locked threads constructively.

This is why my suggestion would be ideal, in the occurrence of someone wanting to revive a thread (with constructive feedback)

He means 6+ months get deleted, so you don't see them anyway.

But not everyone will obey the warning, just like every other warning on this website, no one knows how to read it. That's why I think locking them is better. If you want to discuss the topic more, months later, then they should just make a new thread or request it to be unlocked or something.

It would be very difficult to ignore the message, especially since the system won't allow you to post until you read it.

But how can a system tell where someones eyes have gone to read it? The big ass yellow banners above some forum categories that used to say things like "You are not allowed to sell Minecraft accounts on the forum" and such before were completely ignored and people still posted account selling threads back when you weren't allowed to sell accounts. I see what you are getting at and it is a relatively good idea just it most likely won't work because people don't read warnings.

You'd have to check a box. And if people are ignorant enough to ignore messages afterwards, moderators need to get involved and warn them.

That's sort of like a tos though, you always check the box without reading. Anyway, you are new so I guess you don't know this, staff are slow enough when it comes to answering reports, looking over forums, and such, so putting more work on them would just be a hassle.

That's a shame. This needs to be more of an actively enforced rule, active members are constantly annoyed by this and MCM could lose some decent members from this happening.

We already have other systems in place for this, and a new suggestion has been made about this.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
