I am going to make this incredibly simplistic and straight-forward. Two devs I've worked with so far, have screwed me over. One had +400 rep (Black Reaper) , and one was quite new (Pyx). Anyways, they not only scammed me of my fucking 6 months total, yet they haven't done what they were supposed to. I am not filing a scam report, because of two reasons.
MODS please, Jed M %95 has an alt here on MCM, because after I have dealt with him, I have sent the money and all that, (60$) he fucking delays it. For an extra 5 weeks. Then says that his skype is hacked, then I see him online at times, only to see that he removes me a couple days later. The plugin was never completed. Please, if you aren't dealing with the best here, hesitate before dealing with devs. They are just (mostly, please, mostly) too lazy to finish their damn job. That other guy Pyx wasted 2.5 fucking months of my time, only to leave to dev for his server, which failed. (He had a free domain, of course it would be. So fucking unprofessional) I have spoken with other devs, but the best of the best was charging a bit too much, and some didn't have time. Please, just go to Spigot if you want to get the best chance to have your plugin made. By the way, this Jed dude told me 4 times that he had the plugin done, but every single time an 'excuse' was delaying him.
Next thing is, don't go cheap. You shouldn't make it overpriced, but going cheap is always trouble. Not only it stops or slows the dev because he believes that his work is more than that, but there is a 90% chance of getting fucked over. This Pyx kid (he was 14) told me that he would make the minigame for 35 dollars. I was like, 'That has to be a scam.' But he never asked for payment, saying he would get it after everything was done. So he wasted mine and his time. Don't overprice it too, cause it still can be made if you manage to get a good dev. I was asked for 25 dollars an hour for 12 hours which totaled to 300$ from the best of the best, yet that was too much for me, at the time. I offered this Jed dude 120 bucks for the whole plugin, and man was it weird. He fucking helped me with setting the server, forums, ts up. The plugin was never done though. That is why I didn't chargeback, since the server I got made 8-9x the money that I was paying Jed. He helped me out on those, but damn he was lazy. He abandoned his old account and 90% made another account, so please moderators check this, it only takes like a minute. I thought of Jed's skype getting hacked and the hackers removing me, but he would have gotten in contact with me afterwards. He never from here, nor from skype, told me if he had another way to communicate.
This post will unfortunately lead people into not trusting the starting devs, but I am just stating the facts here. I got fucked over, and my server could have been up and running 3 months before it actually did.
