I learned the languages on codecademy.com
Start with HTML, then CSS, then practice a bit with those languages by making simple sites, then learn JavaScript.

The thing with web development and design is patience. It's easy to learn the languages but applying your newfound knowledge is the difficult part. Just know that you'll never know everything on web development and design. It'll take you years to actually design and development websites properly. Just cause you learned the language doesn't mean you'll be able to produce high quality sites instantly, some people think that. You just have to practice a lot by starting simple then doing more advanced things. Took me 3-4 years to get where I am now and I'm still learning. That's what I like about web development, you'll never stop learning.

There's a bunch of web development resources out there, tutorials etc.

I've been doing web development for about four years and for myself personally I find I learn best when I have a project to do, something I'm striving to complete. By simply working away at that project piece by piece, doing research (mainly via Google) when ever I hit a brick wall and applying that knowledge into my work, I would get progressively better and better each time I took on a new project.

Just something to think about.
