Not sure if this could ever be a thing, but I've been thinking about it for awhile.
Could there be a file upload site like mediafire, but you have to subscribe/like a video on youtube so be able to download the file.
Maybe it could be possible with this button?: https://developers.google.com/youtube/youtube_subscribe_button

It allows applications to listen for subscribe/unsubscribe events which could be the download script?:

I'm not very experienced with website developing so I'm not sure if this would even work or not, but it would be really cool to see it created if it's possible. :)

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

SO you'd need to like/sub to download a certain file? Kinda like how some sites make you like their facebook for downloading something?

They do a similar thing on sellfy, except I don't think it's compatible with youtube.. I've been thinking about this for a long time, in giveaways and such, and if any php developers could make this, that'd be great :D

Edit: Realized it's js, my bad.

Yeah, something similar to sites where you have to fill out a survey so be able to download the file, but actually legit. :p

It is possible. It would be easier if there was an API although I'm not sure if there is. Otherwise it could be done by a number of HTTP requests checking the user's youtube username against a list of people subscribed to your channel.

Interesting. I just tested it out on my site, and a console.log event works on the subscribe and unsubscribe event so it's definitely possible. :) I don't know a whole about about web development tho, sorry :/.

Its totally possible. However I think there are private sites that make you do this.

Like Pushed to Insanity's site.

http://pushedtoinsanity.com/
I had the same type of thing pushedtoinsanity/topfreetemplates has on their sites. The subscribe to download buttons don't actually care if you subscribe. They just say that you need to subscribe and have a .gif file under the button saying it's checking :p
Probably just a php script that has a minute delay before running the download script, which was what I had on my website.

Get subscriber count before they subscribe. Once they say "I have subscribed" check subscriber count and if it's increased let them pass?
Much easier than having them sign in and subscribing on behalf of them.

That depends how much traffic the site would get. If it was small that would work, but if multiple people were doing it at the same time it wouldn't.
