I see a lot of people using asterisks to replace letters in names. I know it must be somewhat important, but can someone explain why? Thanks in advance!

Mostly what Popeyes said but this is much more often seen with social media accounts due to the reason stated, possibly being locked or reported for breaking TOS. It isn't seen as much with MC accounts afaik due to them being locked more often for other reasons. We also have a Mojang Staff member on this forum and he has stated that he doesn't really care about the selling of OG accounts (to the extent of cobalt and mojang accounts I believe)
