Ok so user tokens are essentially a discord account username and password in a key so you don't need to login. It is then used by a script which can do a number of things. A DM script takes user inputs and auto joins guilds and whenever a user joins that guild it uses a user account choosing a token from the list and it can DM the account that recently joined the server whatever you want.

This is often used for mass advertising of anything pretty much.

You could technically use them to make a custom client of some sort, but it's generally used for mass advertising and spamming

the official discord client uses tokens, most sites do something like this so your password isnt stored on your browser

A discord token is an authorisation key used to login to discord without the need to use a username and password. Discord tokens exist for both bot accounts and regular user accounts. Although tokens are primarily used for legitimate purposes like for bots, some people decide to go against the TOS of discord and/or do some pretty unethical stuff such as things people have already mentioned in this thread.
