What are vouches?

I see some people on this forum talking about Vouch Swapping or just vouches in general. I understand what a vouch is, saying somebody is good for something. But how are they measured here on the site?

I'm pondering getting involved with perhaps being a third party/middleman for transactions because it genuinely pains me to see people - especially kids - getting ripped off (almost happened to me on this site but paypal had my back!), but I just want to understand how everything here works first. All I can do is read more, but having some understanding from you guys helps out!

(Also on a sidenote, I find it interesting that people buy and sell accounts in the same forum that people buy and sell sniper software. Isn't that a bit disingenuous?)

Say if I sell you something. I would vouch after saying you paid a d where nice to work with. So people know your more trustable. More vouches means the more people say your legit and won't scam.

OK got it. So vouches don't show up in profiles like points, only in subsequent threads as posts?

They can be posted in lots of places. You can do what I do, and have them all in a spoiler in your signature. Makes it a lot easier for people to see.
