Edit: Are you referring to dis-wise or hip hop flow?
Both, imo. Eminem easily beat MGK in terms of lyricism and wordplay, but MGK's flow, beat, and disses were much better imo. Don't get me wrong, MGK had some weak disses as well ("fucking beard is weird"), but he had good ones too.
My interpretation of Eminem's disses:
  • MGK is indecisive on the track (which he isn't imo, he makes it pretty clear that he dislikes modern Eminem but is alright with Em in the past)
  • You look like an idiot because of your manbun (equally as weak as the beard line in MGK's track)
  • He's old and still outselling MGK (which is fair, but that can easily be refuted by noting the amount of time they've had in the game. Also, MGK already fired back in the first track, saying that he became successful [even if not as much so] without Dre producing his tracks [which Eminem did have])
  • You mixed up my recent albums (who gives a shit lmao)
  • Your hometown supports me more than they support you (fair point if it's true, idk how to figure that out though)
  • You've never collaborated with anyone big (depends what Em considers big, but MGK has collab'd with a lot of big names, like Chief Keef, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka, Quavo, Ty$, etc, as well as more mainstream names like Camila Cabello, Hailee Steinfeld, Travis Barker, etc)
  • You'll never be this big again (which is most likely true)
  • You use auto-tune (not really a diss, auto-tune has been used by many big artists, likely including Eminem, and definitely including Em's collaborations)
  • You do mumble rap (rap devil was clearly not mumble rap, and the term "mumble rap" is thrown around so much it's lost its meaning. If the original meaning was that the lyrics were indecipherable, 95% of "mumble rap" isn't actually mumble rap.)
  • You copy my style (MGK does look pretty similar to early Em, not sure if that's his intention but whatever)
Whereas MGK's best disses hold a bit more weight, IMO:
  • You act tough, but hide behind security or other people (hiding behind security isn't really a bad thing, considering how many crazy fans there are, but fakeness in the rap game is a big issue that I personally very much dislike; everyone acts tough, and it's very rare that anyone actually is. On the next line, he calls out em for saying that he'll call trick trick [aka, the guy that controls the rap scene in detroit. if he says "you aren't getting in", then you're not getting in unless you want a bullet in the head] to try to ruin MGK's career near detroit. This is a much better example, imo, of Eminem hiding behind other peoples influence.)
  • You blackballed a young rapper for something very small (blackballing is a somewhat serious industry problem, once again involving Em trying to prevent MGK from any success [and only somewhat inconveniencing him]. For reference, Em banned MGK from Shade 45 after MGK's tweet, and allegedly talked to his manager about getting MGK kicked out of labels through his connections, though Em denies this)
  • Your selfie was bad (shallow diss, as bad as the beard/manbun disses)
  • You pretend like you aren't past your prime (i'm not even gonna get into this one, touchy subject. let's just pretend that it's neither good nor bad)
  • You called the managers of both my labels to ask me to apologize over a tweet (fucking ridiculous that em got this pissed over the tweet, the end of this post will have my take on that)
  • You're old (this is equally shallow, but "the real slim shady can't stand up" is a great line lol)
  • Your clothing style is corny (agree, but still shallow)
  • Your recent albums sucked, Recovery was the last good one (personal opinion of his, whatever, who cares)
  • You're trying to keep newer rappers down (which is true, in a lot of cases, I would say. Once again, this ties back into the whole "mumble rapper" thing; Em has publicly supported numerous "newer" rappers that I do like, like Hopsin or Juice WRLD, and others I don't care much for like Logic. However, he still has the whole "current rap is trash, I'm the only good rapper!" mentality which is very annoying. Anyone who has spent any time in the recent rap game knows there are tons of great, original rappers with all different lyrics, styles, flows, beats, etc. IMO, Em having this mentality and publicly broadcasting it just stifles the growth of newer rappers, including those that he may very well have supported had he known them.)
  • Your name is weak (shallow diss, who cares. M&M's suck unless they're mini or peanut though)
So as you can see, from my understanding, MGK had a fair amount of weak disses, yes, but his strong disses were far better than any of Eminem's. Also, let's not forget that this entire thing started over MGK saying, and I quote: "Ok so I just saw a picture of Eminem’s daughter… and I have to say, she is hot as fuck, in the most respectful way possible cuz Em is king". I honestly don't see how anyone interpreted this as especially offensive. People also acted like the age gap was weird; Hailie was 16, MGK was 21 (from what I can tell), and MGK thought she was 19-20. Not only that, but he claims that this was all resolved 6 years ago. For Eminem to be dissing the guy 6 years later over something this small, when it was already handled, it's mindblowing, especially considering how much Em did to MGK in return.

Overall though, I don't really care much. I don't actively listen to either of them. This post was way too long, but I got bored so

Overall though, I don't really care much. I don't actively listen to either of them. This post was way too long, but I got bored so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Although I side with Eminem on this one, whenever I was listening to both of the tracks at the time of release I did find myself listening to Rap Devil more however since I have pushed it off my playlist because throughout all of his tracks, that's the only catchy/good one and yet it was a dis to Eminem which then he proceeded to ruin his career.

Like Eminem said in The Ringer; "You mention me, millions of views, attention in news; I mention you, lose-lose for me, win-win for you; Billions of views, your ten cents are two". Which is true, because in the Hip-Hop culture no one would mess with "White Boy". That was just how it was solidly put. Most of whom fired at Em got fired back at and they ended up losing their careers.

MGK had one of the biggest opportunities in his career because he mentioned Eminem's Daughter and Em fired back. However through MGK's following record he dropped, it showed a massive decrees in his views. Then with the following record it dropped even further which thus sealed the deal on how he swiftly ruined his career. If MGK would've taken the spotlight by the throat and released a quality track. Then he most likely would've been a namer. He would've proceeded to gain another platinum and ride the road out by living to tell the tale of dissing Em and making fame from it. Something which no Rapper has still yet to do.

But Eminem was right regarding the fact that he didn't do any tracks with big namers. I will argue that "Chief Keef, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka, Quavo, Ty$" aren't big. Not on any level of the high-tops/ballers such as Drake, Jay-Z, Juice, Kanye West, Travis Scott, etc..

To the lyrics:
Eminem Rapped: "Stan, Stan, son, listen, man, dad isn't mad; But how you gonna name yourself after a damn gun and have a man bun?" (When looking at the Lyrics he mentions Stan and I believe it's quite funny because MGK was a huge fan of Eminem. Old or New Shady, it doesn't matter. Em refers to him as Stan because that's basically what MGK is. A "fan" that was only chasing clout)

Eminem Mentions: "The giant's woke, eyes open, undeniable" (Now I will say that both rappers genuinely needed this spotlight, MGK more than Eminem. But, after Eminem dropped his album, Kamikaze, and how it struggled a little; the beef between them really helped shine both of their careers and Eminem went to continue while MGK chose a more aggressive path which caused him to fall out.

Anyways I'm ending this here because I gtg; but MGK wrote his raps in like a couple days while Eminem seriously took some Lyricism into his writing and he didn't destroy MGK straight off. MGK destroyed his own career following it which is almost as crippling.

Yes, MGK's big success was from this diss, I won't even pretend that isn't the case.

Several of the rappers I mentioned are bigger than those you mentioned. For example, most of the rappers I mentioned are larger than Travis Scott. 2 Chainz' sales are higher than Juice WRLD, as well. If we go by streams, Chief Keef and Quavo (and his group, Migos) would also likely be tying with several of those artists. Meek Mill even has his own documentary. No idea about Waka Flocka or Ty$, though, as I don't know much about them.

MGK was a fan, sure. He said that himself in the song and in interviews.

Do you remember Poppy? The weird YouTube girl.
Turns out she makes music, and one of her albums "Am I A Girl?" I've been surprised to find I've really enjoyed. Specifically, "Aristocrat", "The Rapture Ball" and "Fashion After All" all have an interesting sound.

I've also liked Pop Smoke's Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, even if it sways from his original style.
Charli XCX has been topping my recent listening.
Lil Uzi Vert and Burna Boy have also been making the rounds.

Peep my Spotify; i've got a bunch of playlists. https://open.spotify.com/user/gamemodecreative.
