Doesn't take much to be honest. I personally think prison servers have the opportunity to make more money in donations than any other server. It take a dedicated owner, and then just build a unique prison server. Don't pay $10 for someones pre configured setup, and upload it all to a $10 host and call it done.

It really doesn't take much. I hadn't played MC in nearly 2 years, came back and opened a server (before taking the time to play on any other server) and I made roughly $800 in 20 days. Just be active, day in and day out.

Having the same feature as other servers. Have custom features and custom items. Also events to draw people's attention

Maybe like bosses that give you semi op loots.
A decent pvp arena/anticheat. (I played on a server with no anticheat and the pvp was full of hackers)
Also irl money rewards draw a lot of people's attention (Like plot contests, who makes the most money, who mines most blocks, etc)
