What happened with Hytale?

There was so much hype. It's all gone. What's your opinion on it?

Nothing really happened? If you check their twitter page, their still actively posting and tweeting out new stuff with a good amount of likes and replies. While I do agree that the trailer was released a bit early, but progress is still being made, and development is still active. The hype has of course died down a bit, as the trailer was released over 2 years ago, but when the release comes out, the hype will be just as much, and even more. A part of me is glad they are holding out on release, because it means they are taking their time on each aspect of the game, and focusing on stability and performance rather than release date, something that a lot of other games don't do, which end up becoming a disappointment (Cyberpunk ).

Its prob cuz they released the trailer wayyyy too early and they still havent released the game and no one really cares about it anymore. Plus in my opinion its kinda a knock off of minecraft in a way (which is obvious to see).

Well, we have to take into account the whole pandemic situation, and of course not everything being shown to the public. A lot of backend and behind the scenes development is still happening. Other forms of social media are still active. The website doesn't really need to be updated 24/7.

Hytale got acquired by Riot Games who is letting them do whatever they want while paying for all their expenses. Since then, Noxy from Hypixel Studios has decided to literally overhaul most of the game to try and make it perfect. Features the Hytale team made a long time ago are getting redone from scratch and will continue be to overhauled until it's flawless.

I don't really get why people are discussing Hytale being "dead".

Games take some time to develop and this is the studios' first title so the wait is to be expected in my opinion. I don't think this is a sign of troubled development or anything.

And of course like mentioned before there's the COVID-19 situation to take into account.
