What is everyone's thoughts of the new YouTube rules?

I find it worse than the Minecraft EULA ever happened. But I can understand how they do not want to advertise people from taking drugs, the rest however is literally bullshit.

Stupid, someone will make a new website to compete YouTube will lose people, change rules back and people will leave the other site to go back to YouTube.
True, but they don't have a lot of resources. It'll take years I would say to be able to compete YouTube as Google literally has full of servers for videos.

Also, I feel like YouTube is no longer YouTube. It's just Tube now, since you can no longer be you-rself.

So many people do not realize most of those rules already existed, they were just being enforced much more lightly.
At the moment, it looks like they broadened a few of the rules (the one about not being allowed to even TALK about controversial topics worries me), and their enforcing system is on a hair trigger for no good reason.

Still, a better system would be one where advertisers can select to not appear on videos with certain types of content, and have their automated system put content in those categories.
I highly doubt the creators of Deadpool would give a shit if their advert appeared on a video full of sex jokes.

If youtube don't take their current detection system off of hair trigger, they're going to chase a lot of users to start getting their income from Twitch, or from Patreon and the likes, ignoring monetization entirely. A lot of smaller ones are already relying partially on patreon and gamewisp and the likes, and if the de-monetization remains on hair-trigger this number will simply start increasing a lot.

Unrelated, but every one of your posts are very detailed. You have a gift.

I agree though, I think that would be a lot better than what is going to be. Have to admit though that I think channels such as Leafy enforced this more than it should've.

yeah, I personally believe the amending of the rule to not allow even talking about controversial topics was directly related to Leafy and Keemstar and people like them. And for that, it's a good thing, but "controversial topics" is just far too much of a vague term that technically allows them to demonetize any vlog that talks about any topic that isn't unicorns and rainbows.

Oh, and the gift is called a lot of time and fast typing :p. The former is going to decrease a lot though, college and stuff.
