What is popular?

I am thinking about working on a server, but I don't know what type of server popular atm. Is it Skyblock? Is it Factions? I need help

It's becoming harder to make servers thrive, unless you come up with something new. I'm saying that it's best to make something original, but they can make whatever they'd like.
