I'm always on a current cycle of quitting, going back to Minecraft, quitting and I just keep on repeating. I've done this for a long time and can never makeup my mind, and no one can really persuade me from stop going back to Minecraft. If you've played the game since it came out (developed even) then you know what I'm talking about. I want back into the server scene, I like developing, configuring, playing around and also the owner aspect of having a server. My last few servers have been extremely lucky and have had players, but I feel like it's not as easy as it once was (even if it was < 1 year ago). I see all these new servers releasing "maps" (?). I have never even heard of the concept, I'm more of a basic gamemode kinda guy, such as factions, prison, etc. These servers seem to generate a lot of revenue and seem to attract players a lot. Is this the way to go when creating a new server? If not, what really attracts players to a server now a days? It's like anything though, you need a community in order to get a community Kappa

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

a thousand partners/youtubers
Yeah, obviously, but I wouldn't necessarily call that self-made success. Although it is a valid way, back in the day it was easy to grow a server without youtubers, now it seems like it depends on them :/

I know I'm not the only one that does this, but thank the lord I'm not the only one. It seems like people only come to your server for like 5-10 seconds, check if there's players, built well, professional, if one of those things does not please them, they're out. Most of us "veterans" if you will, don't have the time we used to and/or we just don't have an interest in Minecraft like we used to. There's also the players that are like me, quit, comeback, repeat.

You honestly just need a really well-advertised server for best success.
Getting good features and good staff is important to keep the player base when you can no longer advertise, however.
That's just how I view it.

Yes, of course. But my last server, within 30 minutes of being on a topsite for the first time, we had over 40 players, there wasn't that much unique in our network..
