Hello Everyone,

I am currently looking for a nice and quick, but quality way to learn Java. I have always loved plugins, and now I am looking to learn how to make them.

Should I take an Online Course?
Get someone to teach me?

What other things can I do?

Thanks for helping me out, and I look forward to your responses,

Thank you! I will check it out!
Also just know that is possible to learn on your own, I did. So don't feel like you have to pay for a class or anything. Dedicate a lot of time, watch youtube videos and practice. You'll do great!

Before you ask this, yes, again unfortunately, you need to learn the basics of java just to make plugins, as there are a LOT of basics to learn that you'll use all over the place in a plugin :p

If you're really adamant about learning to make plugins, you'll be able to start looking at it in a few days. Once you learn the syntax and basics of creating objects, variables, utilizing methods and parameters, and how to handle primitives, arrays, (maybe even collections) and operators, then you should be ready. Until then, if you try to jump straight into learning to code a BUKKIT plugin, you'll just confuse yourself.

After you have a much better grasp in Java, I would recommend that you check out the Plugin Tutorial in the Bukkit wiki. Download eclipse as it is what you need when creating plugins. You could also view the source of plugins, and learn how it was put together and such. Try watching a few videos that aren't so outdated. Most people are visual learners. You should start out by creating a simple plugin, and gradually move your way up to where you can create custom mini games. I would start with creating a Bukkit plugin first rather than creating one for MC-Market. It's just easier that way in my opinion.

Eclipse has a way to to use "Linked Source" so you can just change code while developing a plugin and when its finished copy that code to your main source folder (don't forget to make the namespaces unique to prevent conflicts).
Those frameworks also help in the early stages. If someone finds a bug you can just patch it in all frameworks.

If you would like some help in learning java I have contacted you ;)
