What server type would be better for growth?

Hi there,

I have recently started development on a server that I am making which (from my research) has not been done before. I have a document with everything I plan to do but with some of my ideas I have stumbled into a bit of a 50/50 decision that I have no clue what to do. My first decision was the make custom plugins for the server to run off (I have a decent knowledge of plugin making & with a bit more learning I can create almost everything I would need) but with some of my quest ideas, It could possibly be coded in, but would be easier to do with mods.

That is where my split is.

I feel like with the idea I have, making it more modded could make the server grow less and therefore be less popular with the sufficient advertisement since most people do not want to download mods.

But on the other hand. I could try and code most of it in and have it run on vanilla minecraft. But new mobs, weapons and more dragons could possibly not be done without modded capabilities and therefore I would need to redesign some of the quests and ideas I have. But what would everyone here recommend? keep it vanilla for easy access or modded? Please use the poll above

I voted too. As a player, I personally don't like to download mods etc - but that is just me.

When I made my server, I chose it from the way I like to play, plus some of the people that I played with when we made the server. We didn't make it for growth. With that said, having a type that you can always adapt and change a bit would be helpful too so then you can continuously grow and expand as needed, ya know?

There is a lot you can do, and with the experience you have, you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck! :)
