What should i do with my server

Hey guys, i run a server named McAri, http://minecraftservers.org/server/212572 (check stats for player base)

I am wondering what i should do next with my network.

We bought a custom website, logo is in progress, buycraft layout in progress, etc.

We are currently recreating an old survival server that was extremely popular but shutdown due to glitches.

The server will be 100% custom coded from the bottom up, even essentials commands, we are custom coding literally almost everything. This server will be absolutely amazing and loved.

currently i have around 2.3k or so (USD).

The survival server wont be on the network for awhile (No ETA)

What should i do with my server? Should i put the survival server on my network? Should i make a seperate server with it? Should i see how it does on my network then slowly remove other game modes?


What should i do with my network, someone maybe come on my server and check what i should do, add, etc?

Hello aristant,

I am a professional business development consultant among other things.

What you are lacking is originality. There are some basic rules and tips you can follow to bring success to any project not just the server itself but any project you begin.

At the moment i only do paid services, but i will try and help you a little. I have some questions for you which i need you to answer before i can give you some basic advise.

1. What i want you to do first is ask yourself, why are you here and why are you doing this? Are you here for money (Don't answer just think to yourself for this one) or are you here for another reason? You came from this server and now own it and want to improve it? What is the motivation behind this project?

2. Are you following the cause you laid out (the answer to the first question). For example, are you making money as you set out to or are you serving the community you love?

If you are not, you know what you need to focus on. In business we must always be focused on financial goals. That doesn't mean we don't have a passion for what we do, for example developers want to make money but they have a passion for code.

Not every business is made to survive, but there are things you can be doing to ensure yours has a better chance.

You belong in a market now, that's the Minecraft Servers market. It's a big market with all kinds of people involved. So you have to compete with them to have the best product (server).

How can you have the best product? You need to be original, you need to think outside the box. What can you do for your players that no one else can?

No one can tell you how to run your business, not even a business consultant like me. What you need to do is open your mind and explore every avenue, that's what business is about. Taking risks.

You can hire people like me who will advise you, but that's all we can do. Advise.

If you are serious about wanting to expand and take your server to new levels, i will be more than happy to sit down and talk with you in a Skype call, as a client.

As far as advice for the time being, i'm going to stick with, be original, be unique and be creative. Players are coming to your server to look for new breathtaking experience, so give them one.

You need to set an end goal, and just work towards that and nothing else.

I didnt start it for money, sure money is nice, but i spend as little as possible on my self and most on the server to improve, pay devs, gfx artists, builders, etc.

You only have a 30 player base. I'm not saying it's bad, but for a network. I suggest you to have more than that. So spend it on advertisement. Next, you want to try combining survival, but slowly remove the gamemodes by doing vote polls. Some people stay on your server for that gamemode. If you remove it, then you will remove then maybe.

i did do a vote poll on which to remove. Problem is should i do it or no? and how do i know if its the right decision.

Go with your guts. If the gamemode isn't very popular. Remove it.
