Hi there,

What do you think the punishment should be for users retracting their bid?

Just looking for input as I feel like this should be more clear.

Thanks.

I think this would work if the rule about having a bid ending date would be enforced more, as people tend to constantly change their end date until they get the price they want which ruins the purpose and leads most people on the thread to end up spending their money so they cannot keep the bid they had placed originally. This affects the people who do actually stick to their bid end date as people tend to make bids with funds that are either not going to be with them for very long or they don't have at all.

The idea of this is pretty stupid IMO. I'm not going to reiterate what Deleted User 17178 said but what if a situation like that DID happen and this rule and a punishment was being enforced. That would cause WAY too much confusion and drama. There should be no punishment for it, this is a Minecraft forum. Yes, things are sold here but it's not a site like eBay. It's not THAT serious. Most things sold here are virtual whereas eBay is consisted of mostly tangible goods.

I swear there was a thread about this sort of thing already. If you retract your bid after the auction ends, it should be minimum 5 warning points. This assumes the auction end date was known to you a reasonable time before it ended (such as after first bid).
Apart from that, 0 consequences.

Honestly, it shouldn't really be punishable. There's so many factors that could explain retracting a bid. Like the following.

1. You have $200 PayPal and offer $100 on a deal, but someone from a past deal places a $150 chargeback, leaving you unable to pay the $100.
2. You find the item is stolen, fake, etc.
3. The seller starts getting devouched and scam reports open up on them.
4. You just decide you no longer wish to buy the item in question.

I'm sure you get the point. There could be many reasons why you'd retract a bid. Making it punishable would honestly be kinda silly in my opinion.

Obviously if there are circumstances like that you should be let off. But I literally see new members going around bidding on auctions (several times I have been outbid by these people) who, when the time comes to pay, always have an excuse for not paying or simply say 'I don't have the funds anymore'. You shouldn't be bidding if you cannot prepare for certain variables to affect your money. But if you can provide proof of something like this happening you shouldn't be punished for it.

I think users who tell the seller 24-48 hours before the auction ends that they need to retract their bif shouldn't be punished. Now if they wait and don't retract their bid and the deadline is met and they don't have the money and want to retract they should be punished.

I believe it should be:
Bid can be retracted before 24 hours of the auction closing (or later depending on the circumstances, like the ones Doubt said)

A sort of user name tag (like supreme or Premium) but then with fake bidder or something like that it expires after 1 month? Unless you have a valid reason to retract the bid like how the product was described was false / leaked / aids account ....

What if you had a valid reason? Alot of things need to be considered before being branded as a "false bidder".
agreed, but then you'd need to post the proof in the post where you retract your bid.
