Hello,

So yesterday, I was at a garage sale, and I got a new server (Dell Poweredge 2950)

For $2

So yeah, I am pretty excited :p

Here are the specs:
32GB Ram (DDR2)
(2) Intel Xeon 2.66GHZ processors
It came with 3TB Storage already set up with Raid5 (1.8TB Virtual Drive)
No OS (I am thinking about putting CentOS on it)
I do not have the best internet, but on ethernet I am 59.27 Download, 6.06 Upload (18MS ping)
I booted it up with a liveCD, and it looks just fine.

However, I have a problem. I know basically nothing about networking :\, so what should I do with it? I do not want to spend much more $$$ on it, just because I am saving for a new laptop.

Thanks,

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Literally three quarters of the people who come in here have no idea what they are buying, but will drop $500 on a random rig we supply here without even asking.
Not sure if the sellers knew the difference between the server and a silver box xD.

Have you got a lot of computers at home? Turn it into your own AD server. Get a copy of Windows Server 2012 install it on your server install Active Directory Domain Services then connect up all your PC's to it. Set up roaming profiles now you can log onto any of your PC's and have all your staff sync'd across them all. :)[DOUBLEPOST=1465156391][/DOUBLEPOST]

Anyone want to know how to do this, there is a tutorial on YouTube,

BTW I do not own this video, this is one I used when I first setup my AD server at home. :)

Between my family, there are 6 working computers. Of those, 2 are mine. However, my parents have taken away my main PC, and my other PC is running RemixOS (Does not work with windows server 12)

You could use your server for running game server with friends or host websites and stuff like that. If you are going to sell it I would go and price check it on eBay or other sites, because it is second hand the worth is less than it being brand new. You don't want the price to be bad either since postage costs a lot.
