It's a plain survival world where you have to get everything by scratch. If you die you get death banned and if your faction gets 0 DTR (Deaths till raidable) your base will be auto unclaimed and people will raid it to get your items.

HCF is a deviation from faction in which faction power is based on Deaths Till Raidable, which goes down until each death. You usually have a set amount of land no matter how many members, and once your DTR hits 0, you basically are "unclaimed" and have been raided. When you die, you are deathbanned for something like 2-3 hours (depends on server). The minigames in HCF include KoTH, Conquest, etc. Some servers have twists on their HCF, but all are based around pvp.
