That statement is quite generic, its not as easy to think of unique/original ideas. If your server is good quality then people will play it.

I can agree with you that it's not easy to create unique/original ideas. But look around, bring some real life games that are unique into minecraft! I mean, who has ever created Silent ball in a minecraft server?


(Thinking about it now, Silent ball would be pretty boring xD, but it's just an example.)

Literally 99% of gamemodes in Minecraft are completely unrealistic.

Well sure, just my opinion. Unique ideas grab most people's attention.

Use a lot of money on advertising

50% for ads, spend the rest on the server. Sell after at least a month or you reach a sustainable playerbase.
